Loved this hotel. The views were outstanding. Monkeys were in the trees. The pool is gorgeous and swim up bar is great---delicious drinks too. Our room was average. It's spacious and the terrace was great but it could use a little updating. We were in the main building and had to hike up a metal spiral staircase. I think the... More

I have stayed at the Hotel La Mariposa for 2 straight years now. This year, I was in Costa Rica with my girlfriend and a group of friends. It is by far the nicest hotel I've stayed at in Costa Rica (even compared to the Hilton Cariari in San Jose, where I also stayed this trip). The sunset is absolutely... More

Over the past years, my family has stayed in many, if not most, of the local Manuel Antonio hotels. Mariposa no doubt is our favorite choice, from both the standpoint of service (friendly outgoing staff) and accommodations (great rooms with awesome views). I cannot recommend Mariposa highly enough. Look forward to returning again soon.

Rude staff. Overpriced rooms. When I arrived they raised my rate since there were three of us. Myself, and my two underage sons. I paid an extra $80 for my 17 year old son. The view is great, but we paid well over $200/night for no view from our room. And the walls were thin-the neighbor had a baby with... More

After reading some of the negative reviews on La Mariposa, I really need to weigh in. This was our first trip to Costa Rica. We found the staff at La Mariposa to be friendly and extremely responsive, and the rooms clean. The food is also quite good. It is one of the more expensive hotels in the area - our... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights - it was not cheap. It cost over $200 per night. Despite the fact that our room was really lovely and the location itself was quite beautiful, there are so many other hotels in the area I would advise anyone not to spend their money here. After handing over $80 in... More

Hotel La Mariposa was more than what my husband and I were expecting. It is tucked away on the slope of a mountain with exquisite views of the beach and the Pacific Ocean. The grounds and room are kept meticulous, being attended to on a daily basis. It's not your typical hotel structure of floor after floor. Each of the... More

We really enjoyed our stay at La Mariposa. We arrived Christmas Day in the dark but woke up to the most amazing view. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. Our standard garden view room was spacious, clean and adequate. It was a little noisy at night since it was next to the parking lot. I did look... More

Stayed 3 nights at La Mariposa in mid- to late-Dec. and loved every minute of it. We were there a year ago also and loved it so much we had to go back. We stayed in a Premier Ocean-view room and had our own private balcony to enjoy the fabulous view and the early morning birds (many tanagers, tityras, oriole,... More

Warning to all.....The hotel is perched on an enormous hill....and requires much endurance to get suitcases (and selves) up to the top. While the views are great, the amount of energy required just to go to the pool is excessive, even for someone like me, who loves physical challenges. IT IS NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. The food is greatly overpriced. As... More
