We were definitely spoiled by our previous nights in Arenal at the Hotel Nayara, which was THE most incredible hotel, but La Mansion was truly a disappointment. Check in was speedy, no warm greeting as with our previous hotels, but that is no deal breaker by any means. We were lucky enough to land the Presidentials suite, which has a... More

I would like to respond to the last two comments, which are actually focused on the same issue, from one disappointed couple who stayed with us from August 24 to August 29th. This hotel, while also being the source of my livelihood, is at the same time, my hobby. My employees are like family to me and I take great... More

If we hadn't stayed at one of the finest hotels we've ever visited, the Arenal Nayara, prior to visiting La Mansion, we could have easily mistaken the missteps here as a forgivable cultural nuance. We never got a sense that there was an urgency to solve the issues we encountered or to anticipate the needs of the guests. We were... More

A beautiful location and perhaps the best view in the area. The hotel is showing its age - 15 years. The Costa Rican staff is generally very courteous and helpful. However, there were some problems. After 15 years, the hotel still does not have either a sign on the main road or detailed directions on their web site. If you... More

Thanks for your response but I would like to give some facts: The La Mansion Inn opened in 2000... The West Wing opened in 2006... The East Wing will officially open on September 20, 2009... The parking lot is for 14 cars - Extra guarded parking is available outside the gate.. in case the parking lot is full. The free... More

We wanted to relax, and we totally found it here. A few notes: 1. The hotel is very quiet. Great to relax. 2. The room decor is a bit on the 1800's European castle decor, definitely not modern and sleek, but quaint and comfortable. 3. I never saw no mosquitoes, scorpions or bugs anywhere near the hotel. 4. I learned... More

My boyfriend and I bought a package deal for this hotel on LuxuryLink.com and absolutely loved it. We were upgraded to one of the nicest rooms available and the staff was extremely helpful. Only downside was that the bed wasn't very comfortable, but other than that it was perfect.

I stayed at this hotel for a week to spend my 50th birthday in Costa Rica on the beach and amongst the wildlife. I enjoyed my stay and the hotel was nice. However, I was stung by a scorpion in my room the 2nd evening of my stay. I was stung in my little finger and caught the live scorpion... More

My front desk staff was aware of the incident with the scorpion and do I apologize that they did not offer you a complimentary stay and free Champagne. You were offered free medical attention but you declined. The Costa Rica type of scorpions are non-poisonnous but they do sting like a bee. I have lived here 14 years and have... More

This was a fantastic experience. I couldn't believe the views from the hotel pool & even more importantly, from our own back patio. Exquisite! The staff were super friendly & went above & beyond.... helping us with our activity planning/scheduling, restaurant ideas, and even when we wanted a pizza delivered! They offered the best breakfast I've ever had in a... More

My stay at La Mansion was wonderful! The staff were all very helpful and friendly - beginning with the reservation process when I e-mailed Rosalie Maas with many questions and she always got back to me quickly with the information I needed. She also arranged our airport transport from the tiny Quepos airstrip. The room had a balcony with lounge... More

La Mansion is an excellent place to stay! It is a diamond in the rough and reasonably priced for what you get. The views, food, and room were impeccable. The staff were extremely freindly, and willing to assist with any of our needs. Its close to the beach and quiet and safe ( there's a guard that watches over the... More
