Friends and I rented out the large house for 4 nights. And honestly this was the best part of our Costa Rican trip. Sure it takes forever on dirt back roads to get here, but it's worth it when you arrive. The town, the people are all amazing here. Pachamama is a short walk from town where there is great... More

Franz has created a lovely environment here in his tropical garden. We stayed in the fully equipped two bedroom house, which has a balcony and outside barbecue area. Franz is keen to ensure you make the most of your stay, however short. He recommended a nearby beach for us to swim and see the sunset, two great restaurants ( Mary's... More

We traveled to Costa Rica without reservations during the winter holidays and were lucky enough to contact Franz at Pachamama Tropical Garden Lodge who had a little bungalow in the woods available. It was peaceful and secluded, perfect for our family of 4, and just a short trip to the beach. While we didn't see Franz much since we were... More

This was my first time in Costa Rica and we decided to stay at Pachamama tropical lodge. Let's just say the only thing i regret is only staying there for 10 days, I never wanted to leave.Franz and Marta are some of the best hosts there could possibly be, I couldn't thank them enough for what they did for us.... My husband and I were looking to get back to nature and relax. This makes Mal Pais perfect!! Pachamama was the perfect accommodations for getting to see howler monkeys and being out away from town where we could enjoy the sounds of the jungle. The owner and staff were welcoming and made us feel at home. He even took care... More

I hope I can make many trips back to Pachamama tropical lodge! The people are very friendly and helpful for having a very good time at your stay! You can "rough" it and stay in the incredible 3 story tee pee or step it up into a beautiful house with comfortable beds, incredible woodwork and very nice views!

Franz and Marta are the best hosts! When I arrived Franz had invited me to a nice dinner within a few minutes of meeting him at one of the restaurants in town with a big gang of people. This garden lodge has something for everyone whether you are traveling on a tighter budget or are looking for a private (extremely... More

The bungalows and the house are about 50m from the beautiful and quiet beach of Mal Pais. Here surfers find perfect waves year round. Air temperature is 30-35 degrees and water 24-26. We offer surfboard rentals and surf lessons. I'm a passionate kite surfer and if there is coming up some wind I'm in the ocean with a 16 m2 Kite. The wind is 15-20 knots from January to May. It is possible to rent a small house for $80 a night as well. It is fully equipped in a very beautiful and quiet place only 200m from the beach. Perfect location for 2 people.
