MAY June 2006, I spent 6 weeks in Costa Rica between the city of San Jose and Jaco (Pacific coast), lodging at eight different hotels. Jaco was beautiful and was the best place I stayed and Hotel Amapola was amazing, the food was great, the rooms were comfortable, with AC, TV, Internet in the lobby, and the walk to town... more
We spent two nights at the Amapola Comfort as part of our Caravan Tour in January 2007. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and, from the exterior, the buildings look great. Unfortunately, the interior of the rooms left a lot to be desired. In our bathroom, the paint on 3 walls was peeling heavily, not just minor damage. The fixtures were... more
I stayed two nights at the Amapola Hotel in Jaco, Costa Rica, on a Caravan Tour in January, 2007. I think that the architect of this facility should be congratulated for the very attractive design and layout of the various buildings, pools and gardens. The landscaping is very beautiful, and representative of the glorious landscape of the country. Some of... more
We stayed here as part of a Caravan tour and quite liked it. It is a big resort with a great pool and for our tour was an all inclusive. The staff was friendly and the bartender efficient. It is about 2 blocks from Jaco and the beach. We didn't care mach for Jaco (best described as a dirty surfer... more
I stayed at this resort a few weeks back with caravan tours, i can say that this little resort is a 3.5 - 4 star. you have to think that your in central america and not in the usa when writing up a review. The room was nice, i had a courtyard that was right across from the pool which... more
I too was on a Caravan tour. The paint on the walls of our room was peeling off. I was surprised that there was a $3 a day extra charge for the safe in each room. We we told that there were some problems with security and sure enough, one of the tourists' rooms was broken into. I would not... more
We were there as well in conjunction with Caravan Tours. The hotel was fine, and we had no problem with the wait staff, tho the food was marginal. Our room was not made up on the 2nd day until after 4:30 PM. And it was not cleaned particularly well. I expected a little better, as all the other hotels we... more
This hotel was used for two nights in conjunction with Caravan Tours "Costa Rica Natural Paradise Tour." The accommodations were comfortable and well maintained. The only problem encountered was the large number of locals using the facilities. It was plainly evident that the wait staff, especially at the bar and pool swim-up bar gave preferential attention to the Spanish speaking... more
I was part of three single girls traveling through Costa Rica and it was our first big trip outside the US/Mexico. Our first hotel was near Manuel Antonio and was great and clean (despite itty bitty ants in the room but were no bother) and everyone was hospitable. The next stop was Jaco for 5 nights (way too long in... more
