Even though the road leading to Rafiki is a bit rough, it is defiintely worth the trip. Spent two glorious nights there with a group from Road Scholars. The staff could not have been nicer and more accomodating. The rooms(tents) were wonderful with modern baths and the sounds of the animals lulled me to sleep. Bird watching from the deck... More

I spent 3 nights here with a group of friends. It was great! We birdwatched, hiked, rafted and swam under wonderful waterfalls and went down the scary waterside. The accommodations are on the rustic side - fancy tents attached to concrete bathrooms and be warned - the trip there is not for the faint of heart. The road out to... More

We were in Costa Rica for my parents' 30th wedding anniversary. Our amazing travel guide (Tico Guide Travel) set us up with a rafting trip through Rafiki. It was easily my favorite activity on the trip, for sure. The guides were knowledgeable about our natural surroundings and so much fun, they tailored each raft to be the appropriate adventure level... More

Beautiful hotel in tents way up in the highlands. Very nice people. Tents and grounds are VERY dark at night. Sometimes the hot water is not terribly hot. Very good food. Can provide a variety of adventures (e.g., white water rafting (awesome) during the day.

Loved this place. We hiked in and were tired, hot and sweaty when we arrived. The brothers who own the place were great and I was settled in a rocking chair overlooking the rainforest with a beer in hand in no time. For me sleeping with the sounds of the birds was a great and unique experience. We rafted out,... More

Great experience ! I was afraid of having a very discomfort night but considering you are camping we had a great night sleeping listening to to the sounds of the birds and insects around. Some of our neighbors even heard the sound of bigger animals at night!!! Food was ok but the atmosphere of the place is great and the... More

Our party of 23 (10 adults, 13 children) went whitewater rafting out of Rafiki Lodge. This is a must do activity. The rafting is done on a river surrounded by unspoiled jungle with a backdrop of mountains. The water was crystal-clear. The tour even included a stop at a beautiful waterfall. I would recommend staying a couple nights at the... More

We traveled to Costa Rica in November 2013 for a family member's wedding. Our group filled all the tents at Rafiki, where the wedding took place. And we all had a wonderful time during our 3 night stay! It was such a unique vacation for me and my family (me, my husband, 6 year old son, 3 year old daughter),... More

A wonderful scenic and educational trek up to the Lodge ( but you can take a car too) leads you to an oasis within the forest. The "tents" have hardwood floors and completely enclosed and attatched modern bathrooms. The views are amazing, the sounds terrific. Follow this stay with white water rafting and you'll have memories that will last a... More

When you first enter the compound of the Rafiki Lodge, after a long and bumpy drive along a gravel road, you get the sense that this place is special. It's deep in the bush and perched up on a bluff, with sweeping views of the Savagre River valley. The Lodge looks like an African safari lodge complete with thatch roofs... More
