While on vacation in Costa Rica a friend of mine arranged for me to go White Water Rafting at the Rafiki Safari Lodge. I've rafted many locations in the United States and I have to say that this was the best rafting trip that I've ever taken. They have smaller 4 person rafts that are great for the size of... More

We traveled with three children ages 8, 10, and 11. We could not have dreamed of a better experience for three "technology-addicted kids". There is no technology at Rafiki. What? You mean the kids are going to actually interactive all day long with the old folks? That in itself was worth the cost of tuition. :-) The family that runs is... More

It was a long, twisty bus ride to reach Rafiki, but our tour group found this lodge amazing. The South African family who homesteaded this spot started with a small dairy farm. Carlo, the son who runs Rafiki, gave a fascinating description of the difficult early years. When fishermen began arriving to fish the nearby Savegre River, they began providing... More

I cannot recommend this place enough! We booked the honeymoon suite for kicks, though we are not honeymooning and fell in love with the family that manages the property. We did white water rafting with Kenny which was mind blowing with a waterfall swim. Kenny was also our bartender the night we arrived, serving up amazing rum cocktails. The temperature... More

We went to the Rafiki Safari Lodge for a White River Rafting activity. We saw the facilities and it's great. Yes, it's really far from the main road, about 30 minutes drive on a rocky road, but it's worth the drive. The Rafting was my highlight of my vacations in Costa Rica. The guides were good, funny, and also made... More

We had a wonderful stay here. Though it was short (only one day) we managed to get a real "jungle experience" which was just perfect for our 10 year old. From spying the caiman in the lake underneath our "tent" to horse-riding up the hill (with the wonderful Randal), to white water rafting (with the wonderful Kenny) to eating the... More

We took the safarito package to Rafiki Safari Lodge. It was THE BEST!!! The view from the lodge is amazing, the guides were great and we not only had fun doing white water rafting but also learned about the animals and plants. The food and hospitality were the best we experienced. It was the highlight of our trip to Costa... More

We had a lot of fun adventures in Costa Rica, but the rafting tour on the Savegre River was my favorite because we also experienced the warm hospitality of Rafiki Safari Lodge. The owners "get it" that the road is an adventure by itself. Along the way there are signs like "You are not lost" and "almost there." Plan on... More

The comfortable tent comes with luxurious bathroom and spacious covered porch; excellent meals and well-stocked bar at the nearby main house, which overlooks a beautiful landscape filled with gardens and birds. Hummingbirds galore! The nearby whitewater rafting on the Savegre River was SUPER fun, with a stop at a waterfall for a backrub! Could it be better? Yes, to know... More

The accomodation is fairly basic, but with electricity a built-in shower and hot water - pretty posh for a tent! The grounds are fantastic - with exotic flora and birds in abundance. The lodge itself, with thatched roof and open-to-the-elements dining and bar area, provides a breath-taking view across the lake with the mountains as a backdrop. We went for... More
