You need to arrive by boat to get to this remote local, but it is indeed a great treat, and I had the bonus of being with my three new friends, the Boeing Babes and The Nids. The lodge was a little too "lodgy" for my taste. It makes you feel like you are at an adult summer camp, but... More

If you see tourism as a business, this is where you go. This is a huge lodge with lots and lots of people. The rooms are in wooden houses, with a balcony where people walk on. Because the windows have no glass in them, it sounds like they are walking into your room. There were lots of great birds, frogs,... More

This is truly a lodge, not an upscale hotel, but it is totally appropriate for the setting in which you will find yourself. There are 4 room in each "mini lodge", all with a front porch and 2 comfortable rocking chairs for relaxing. The rooms are rustic, comfortable and have a fan for cooling. The showers are great - but... More

One goes there with the expectation to see the turtles, most people do not get that lucky, and they were clear to let me know this. Nonetheless the nature was amazing, birds, monkeys, reptiles, amazing. The experience started with bus ride from San José, then on to a one hour boat ride where we got to see many animals, even... We spent 2 nights at Laguna Lodge whilst visiting Tortuguero. The boat ride to the lodge was a great introduction to the national park. The standard rooms at the Lodge are comfortable and have all the basics but did we did feel that the rows of chalets somewhat resembled an upmarket holiday camp. This theme was carried through to the... More

Imagine a place with no roads, no motorized wheeled vehicles, access only by boat or small plane. That is Tortuguero. Laguna Lodge has one of the best lodge sites in Tortuguero, with the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Tortuguero River/Canal on the other. They are only about 700 feet apart. (The Caribbean is not swimmable in this area.)... More

We booked our tour through Ecoletravel and we were not sure where we would be staying. When we arrived at the Lodge I was walking around with my mouth open! One side is the river and the other side the ocean and in between a paradise. Beautiful grounds, two wonderful pools, simple but very clean rooms and excellent food. Would... More

when we arrived here, we were greeted with drinks and cool washcloths which was refreshing after a journey from San Jose by bus and boat. Cabins are basic but nice. Very nice swimming pools and bar. I would suggest more chairs at swimming pool as there didn't seem to be enough for the guests. It is a little touristy but... More

We were here for 2 nights with a groupon package through Ecoterra. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking - located between the canal on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other. Birds of all kinds were abundant and we were treated to many iguanas (huge!!!) and lizards as well. The rooms are extremely primitive and Spartan - no phones,... More

This is my daughter's vision of "Glamping!" Reached only by boat. Nice rooms, no A/C, as not necessary. Two large fans in room. Pools are very nice, as is restaurant. Strong wifi in "lobby area." Beautiful frogs on premises. Definitely worth it to stay here!
