Beach on one side of the resort and river on the other. Easy walk to the small village of Tortuguero. No roads or cars anywhere. Only means of transportaiton other than foot is river boats. Guests are from all over the world. This was the highlight of our Costa Rican vacation. We'll be back! PS No phones or TV in... more

This was one of my favorite stops on our Caravan tour. The rustic simplicity was wonderful with the Caribbean ocean on one side and the river on the other. The wildlife and grounds were beautiful. The Staff was so friendly and easy to work with. The boat rides were enjoyable and the food was delicious. The pool was relaxing and... more

I've stayed at Laguna time and time again upon returning to Tortuguero. Tortuguero is one of my favorite places in Costa Rica, and I love the boat tours and wildlife that you can access up there.. the boat tours are included in Laguna's package and I have to tell you it's more than worth it. They offer a more economical... more

This lodge is great! I wouldn't reccommend this to anyone who has a problem with insects or lizards-there are geckos and iguanas and lizards everywhere. The only life in our rooms, however, were some small cochroaches. They are pretty much impossible to keep out of the rooms though. The pool is also amazing! it doesn't get too deep, but a... more

My husband and I stayed there during high season. We had a wonderful experience. The lodge grounds were beautiful, the staff was very friendly, the accomodations were clean. However, if you want a quiet romantic getaway this is not the place. You eat with the group you came up with, family style dining. All the tours are with that group-... more

Laguna Lodge is in a beautiful setting but does not offer good value for money. The lodges are very poorly constructed - you can hear your neighbours quite clearly. Doors and windows do not fit properly so flies/mosquitoes are impossible to keep out. Bathrooms are basic but work - towels are so thin that it is impossible to dry yourselves... more

The Laguna Lodge was one of the places used by Caravan Tours. It was lovely!!! Each room was made to look like an individual cabin, although they were all connected. The room itself was reminiscent of my camping days---but you truly are in the "middle of nowhere" as the access required a 1.5 hour boat trip!! Don't be surprised to... more

Tortuguero was definitely the highlight of our tour to Costa Rica. The Laguna Lodge was rustic but suited the area. The rooms was basic but the ceiling fans really worked and kept them cool. They had an ensuite and the location was lovely. The boat trips were fabulous. We were not in season to see the turtles but there were... more

My boyfriend and I headed to Tortuguerro to get a little off the beaten path in Costa Rica. I chose Laguna Lodge because they had a special student rate, otherwise the entire area was too expensive for our student budget. We paid $170 each for the "Three" day tour which really is about 1 1/2 days there when you take... more

I´m a repeat offender at Laguna Lodge in Tortuguero. It is probably one of my favorite places in the world and I will continue to go back. I have done the combination 2 night, 3 day tour six times before and am never disappointed. On the drive from San Jose to Tortuguero you stop at a banana plantation and get... more
