Lodge is between the river and the ocean and surrounded by lush jungle. I am a bird watcher and had fun lounging in the beautiful pool as toucans flew around. Lots of iguanas but they don't bother you. Simple but adequate cabins. No air conditioning, but the fans work fine. Enjoyed the porch rocking chairs. The food is good and... More

We took time away from the noise of the city to spend some quiet time in Tortuguero Lodge in the midst of the Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica. The trip from San Jose, courtesy of the Lodge, was a mixture of highways, byways, dirt roads, and about an hour down a river by boat. It was worth it all.... More

Stayed here with a high school group. The location is spectacular. Between the ocean and the river with immaculate grounds and plentiful wildlife to see all around you. A short walk from town.Very nice pools and other amenities. The rooms were upscale cabins but were very nice, clean and well appointed. The rocking chairs on the porches were a nice... More

Full of tour groups. Lots of rustic wooden cabins set in lush grounds. Remember to pick up an umbrella at the entrance - you'll need it. Cabins have nice terrace with rocking chairs - nice place to relax & watch the abundant wildlife. Food pretty average altho plentiful Mealtimes can be pretty chaotic as staff don't seem to be very... The place is clean and the service is very nice and relaxing. I liked the rocking chairs outside the rooms. The rooms are made of wood so when if it rains at night (and it rained really hard on both nights I stayed) you may wake up from the sound of the rain on the roof. The food was disappointing... More

One must have limited expectations when staying in a national park, especially one focused on ecotourism and natural conservation. Thus, we accepted the plain beds, limited pillows and bedding, lack of a/c, and general rustic feel. It felt more like summer camp than a resort stay, and that was fine. Each set of cabins had a front porch with rocking... More

The Laguna Lodge is an excellent place to stay when visiting the Tortuguero National Park. The bungalows are nice and with all comfort on a large domain. The food is excellent and so is the bar. Restaurant and bar have a splendid view on the canal. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Enjoy the excursions by boat in the... More

Stayed here with my two sons (14 and 13). It's a beautiful location but that's really all I can say. The rooms are less than basic. No air conditioning. Twin beds with 1 pillow each. No TVs, clock radios, internet or even bedside lamps. They have bare Christmas tree bulbs with bark over the top. Everything is expensive. It was... More

While the grounds of this lodge are nicely maintained and the rooms were clean, they were very, very rustic. The sheets on the bed were incredibly old and scratchy. And that was all that was on the bed. You cannot close the windows, so any noise and cigarette smoke (which there was a lot of!) drifts right into your room!... More

Lovely grounds and very good food - plenty of choice and clearly labelled in English - restaurant service very good too. Amazing place - Tortuguero is only accessible by boat but the boat trips are excellent and afford wonderful views of the rainforest/mangrove wildlife. The rooms themselves perhaps a little basic and smaller than many in Costa Rica but perfectly... More
