Even before our boat pulled into the dock, Gina turned and gave us a big smile. She stepped away from the office to come to the dock and greet us as we climbed off the boat. She patiently answered all our questions and helped arrange for a guide that very afternoon. He turned out to be one of the best... More

Everything about our trip to Tortuguero was perfect! Our trip began with the river ride, through Amazon-like canals, and ended up right on the dock of Casa Marbella. As soon as we checked in we booked our wildlife tour for 5:45AM the next day. Luckily, we got Daryl, the information guru, as our tour guide! He literally knows every species... More

Casa Marbella is a reasonably priced, clean, no-frills hotel that served well as a base for exploring Tortuguero. When we first arrived, we found that our family of two adults and two children had been assigned a room that was airless and cramped. Luckily, another room was available and we made the switch. The beds were comfortable, but with tours... More

If Tortuguero is the place for you to visit, this is the place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, a very good value, right on the river, with the hosts being about as knowledgable and familiar with the area as anybody. We stayed for 2 nights with 2 young children (8 & 4), and the stay was perfect. We stayed... More

We loved our stay here. We were in the upper bedroom facing the canal, which we found very comfortable. Daryl's prices were so reasonable that we got our teenage daughter her own room - the difference between the price of a triple vs a double+single was negligible. We met wonderful travelers and spent a lot of time hanging out with... More

Gotta give myself credit for making funky, relaxed Tortuguero the first stop in our Costa Rican adventure. No hustling from touts trying to get you into this restaurant or that tour. No peddlars thrusting trinkets at you. Just a place to wander the sandy pathways, checking out a completely different lifestyle, and beginning the process of decompression. And five extra... More

Rooms were kinda small but clean and not bad for the price. Location was good right in the center of town 5 min walk to the National Park. I would not recomend this B&B for younger people. Three of us aged 22 21 and 20 stayed at this hotel for two nights. There was no real problem with this hotel... More

We arrived in Tortuguero on a 6 seater Natureair flight, which was fantastic! Tortuguero is a small, Caribbean village, but the sea is not your typical azure sea but a muddy colour and not safe to swim in because of the currents and various wildlife. Just in case you expect a postcard Caribbean sea! Even though it was dry season,... More

Casa Marbella was just ok. The people were not overly friendly or open with information and we had no hot water. It was reasonably priced though and it was clean. I do suggest that everyone who can, travel up to Tortuguero. It is very interesting to experience.

We flew to Tortuguero with Nature Air which was a high light in itself. From the airport there are river taxis ($5) to take you to your hotel. If you let Casa Marbella know they will arrange one. Tortuguero is noted for its wildlife, particularly turtle nesting. Casa Marbella is the answer for excellent touring. Daryl Loth, owner of Casa... More
