This hotel is the perfect place to make a stop of your busy day to day. Here you will enjoy real vacations. It is a small hotel with very spacious rooms and the most important part are the beds, comfortables, you can have a very good nights of sleeping. The meals are included and the menu is a la carte,... The adventure started at 06:30 in our hotel in San Jose when the shuttle bus of Manatus Hotel (with guide) picked us up for the transfer. Travel up to 2000m into the mountains, thru Braulio Carrillo national park, crossing the Ring of Fire that cuts the country in two areas creating a Pacific and a Caribbean climate, stop at Guàpiles... Great resort. Nice, very big rooms with 2xking size beds, AC and spacious bathroom. Pleasant pool overlooking the river and the forest. Good restaurant, all meals are included in the package but you can freely order 'a la carte' from the menu. Kayaks are free for a calm ride on the river. Excursions are included (with the exception of the... More

Manatus deserves its high Tripadvisor rating. This small complex of only 12 units lies across the lagoon from the village of Tortuguero. Arrival by boat, meeting at the little dock by the Manager, Roberto, presentation of a cold towel and drink all set the tone for a great two-day stay. The setting is idyllic and even had its resident three-toed... More

This is our third trip to Tortuguero in four years, so we knew we enjoyed the place, BUT! This was our first stay at 'Manatus'. The first surprise was the trip to the lodge, we were met at our hotel in San Jose by Gustavo who transported us and our luggage to the boat station for the trip to the... More

We went to Tortuguero for 2 nights to see the turtles. The Manatus staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and nicely air conditioned - a big plus considering how humid it is there. The hotel itself could use a little updating, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Our guide(crrtours.com - put together. Perfect trip!) was able... More

My husband and I traveled with my son, daughter-in-law, daughter, son-in-law and five grandchildren in early August. Grandchildren's ages were 14, 11, 8, 6 and 4. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Gustavo picked us up in San Jose and transported us to the dock. He was very informative and we stopped at a café for... More

The hotel sent someone to pick us up in San Jose and take us to the hotel. The ride was filled with information about the country. Luis senior was our guide during our stay (3 nights) and he made us feel very welcome. He was extremely knowledgeable about everything to do with the rain forest and one could see his... More

Rooms are big, very clean, beds are comfortable. Rooms are private. Staff were welcoming with a cocktail upon our arrival . Luis is a great guide, we spend two says with him, he is very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about tortuguero. The pool is great, very relaxing. The trail behind the hotel is fun and we can see a lot... More

We loved the lodge. The only issue is the rain and humidity. Despite air conditioning in the rooms (a real plus in that area), clothes do not dry over night. The rooms are all comfortable and clean. The location is great for wild life (spider and howler monkeys came through, along with a variety of reptiles, birds and insects). The... More
