The Manatus is 'the' place to stay in Tortuguero. Super rooms, great, friendly staff. Amazing tours. Nothing is too much trouble for the Manatus staff, I'm diabetic and my food was served without fuss or nonsense. I wasn't made to feel that I was a nuisance. Did we enjoy our time there? ? Well !!! We're going back this August... More

We very much enjoyed the 3 days at Manatus, especially the friendly staff and the good meals as well as the competent guide on the boat trips. We were lucky with the weather too. The rooms are rather old style but big and quiet. It's up to the hawler monkeys to wake you up in the morning.

Such adventure to a luxurious, small (only 12 bungalows) resort. We were enchanted by the area, only accessible by boat or plane. The wildlife were abundant and seemed to appear and perform just for us. The guide, Luis, and the hosts, Jason and Sergio, were delightful. The food was fresh and good and the whole area very clean. Would go... More

We loved our stay here. The staff was very friendly. They have trails to explore in the forest behind the hotel. There are free kayaks to use. The rooms and bathrooms were beautiful. We would go back.

Manatus is a lovely hotel tucked in the rain forest along the canal. Although it was described as "rustic" it had all virtually all the amenities and was very nice. My wife and I enjoyed it immensely along with our first Costa Rica experience. The staff was great and the food was excellent.

A welcoming , friendly and very small hotel with great enthusiastic guides. Food and service were excellent, although you do pay quite a bit for the exclusivity. Is it worth it? Yes, I think it is because the hotel and location stay very fondly in the memory, long after you return. In other words it's a great experience.

Great trip, although slightly disappointing on the bird life as had expected to see greater numbers of colourful birds. However Manatus Lodge was lovely, very tranquil and thoroughly relaxing. Accommodation was good, airconditioned which was much appreciated. Rooms were nice although.could be made even better if slightly modernised with perhaps a more safari theme. Staff were polite and attentive and... More

Our first stop in Costa Rica. Really relaxing. Nice and quiet location with just a few cabins, few guests, no kids. Everything was OK, including quality and choice of meals (a la carte). Good tour guides as well.

great staff, in the middle of paradise. just loved it. we had such a great time in the park and on the river with the fishing guides. if you love nature and fishing, you cant go wrong. only down side..the beds.....hard as rocks..the lodge could improve its rating by investing in some upgrade mattresses..
