The boat trip that gets you to the resort is already part of the experience. Arrived at destination a wonderful property, integrated in the nature, greets the traveler. Small units with a few rooms each surrounded by large trees. Monkeys are everywhere, specially at night when you understand why the howler monkeys got their name. A small trail on the... More

What an amazing experience. We took our family of four (2 adults and 2 boys – 12 and 13 years old) to Costa Rica for ten days in March 2015 and Tortuguero was our last stop before heading home. I wish we had had more time. The resort grounds are beautiful. There are monkeys, toucans, parrots, lizards and iquanas that... More

It's a jungle lodge so don't expect 5 star luxury. But the room was spacious and comfortable. No air-con but the ceiling fan was adequate. Plenty of good hot water. Nice bar and pool area. Lovely gardens with a variety of wildlife - which the helpful staff were keen to point out. This included deer, howler and spider monkeys a... More

Interestingly this unforgettable journey begins on board the motor boats that take us, together with luggage, through a network of channels in the forest and there we can begin enjoying all the wildlife following the precious indications of the guides, always unsurpassed attention to all the details. In fact the quality of the guides was a highlight of the trip.... More

This hotel can only be reached by boat. On the way, we saw monkies, crocodiles and many, many birds. On arrival, the hotel gave us a nice drink, the pool and bar overlooked the river. The rooms were basically wooden chalets on stilts. No air con, no TV, no glass in the windows, just anti mosquito netting. Two double beds... More

Pachira Lodge is in a beautiful setting, with a wonderful boat ride from the boatyard to its private dock, which is an experience in its self. The turn over of guests is very fast and at times it felt like you were on a conveyer belt ! The meals were all Buffett , and you felt hurried all the time, with... More

We visited the property with GCT. The exciting part is getting to and from the lodge. Transported by a small van, we had lunch about two hours or so from San Jose. Then about an hour on a road that could be compared to Burma Road. We sort of took this in as part of the allure of this adventure.... More

The clue is in the title - it rains here. Take a poncho and a sense of adventure. Charming cabins set in blocks of 4 in the forest and accessed via a maze of concrete walkways and timber raised decks. There are larger rooms also. Free wi-fi around the communal areas. Pay Wi-fi also available in room by the hour,... More

This lodge/hotel is in a lovely setting and even though we were tired after the long flights the previous day followed by little sleep as we needed an early start from our hotel in San Jose, the arrival to the lodge by boat on a gloriously sunny day was a highlight in the holiday and our tiredness was soon forgotten... We spent two nights here as part of a tour. Rooms basic and clean, in keeping with the environment, pool gorgeous, meals good buffet style. Don't forget your hair dryer and iron as not provided. Beautiful surroundings. Good for bird watching, monkeys around in the trees wildlife and in the grounds. Friendly bar staff. Easy access by boat to Tortuguero... More
