This may be a problem with my perspective, but when I am in the jungle I want to feel like I am in the jungle. When I am at a hang around the spa place, I want a sense of that vibe. The plus side at Tortuguero Lodge and Gardens is it is very safe for kids, as well as... More

This guest makes the following comment: “which brings it around to the question of whether it is a jungle lodge or a luxury resort question” There is no question that we are a JUNGLE LODGE! We don’t claim to be a luxury resort anywhere, if you read this anywhere in our promotional material, please let us know! We are not... More

Great place to go, relax and enjoy nature. I loved the view of the Tortuguero River/Lagoon/Canal from the pool lounge chairs. Loved very much the long trip from La Pavona to the hotel in the water taxi. Please note there is a $20 charge per person each way if you use the hotel shuttle. You can get a cheaper ride... More

We are so sorry to hear that you had such bad service from Maria! At the same time we’re delighted to see that you gave us a 5 star rating in spite of it. We will correct this right away and help Maria get back to her usual high standards. We’ve already informed our managers at the lodge and they... More

Nested between the forest and the river this is the right place to this splendid hotel. This is the cleanest hotel I encounter in Costa Rica. The rooms are large and nice, fine terrace with hammock pacing the river. The food is great, chapeau! To the chef. If you have a chance go there.

What a fascinating and unique experience! Loved every minute of our stay here. The rooms are lovely with screened windows that allow you to delight in the sounds of the rainforest. The staff does everything they can to accommodate their guests --- complimentary coffee, appetizers, and water taxi to the town or the beach. The wildlife boat tour is a... More

This guest says that doing a wildlife boat tour is a “must”. We offer morning and afternoon visits to the park, I recommend doing one of each because wildlife has different behavior depending on the time of day. Your morning tour in Tortuguero National Park leave the lodge after breakfast, by boat with your Tortuguero Naturalist Guide, after a stop... More

If a location can be reached only by boat, it is anyway already special! The hotel, just at the boarder of the wild jungle, has several rooms, well distributed over a large area, in a nice garden (visited from toucans and aracaris!). As there are nets instead of windows, you can hear the jungle all day/ night long, amazing. We... More

There are only two ways to get to Tortuguero, you can do a combination of a 3 hour drive followed by a 1.5 hour boat ride or you can fly 30 minutes. The feeling of flying over the dense rainforest below or as this guest describes, riding through the back water creeks and lagoons of the rainforest en route is... More

Very comfortable and welcoming lodge. Our guides for birding, wildlife viewing, and town visit to Tortuguero were very knowledgable, skilled, and all bi-lingual. Meals provided good food to accommodate our little group's different tastes. Our suite was very comfortable, attractive and spacious. Staff we met were cordial and accommodating.

We arrived here by plane which was spectacular. Someone came to pick us up from the airstrip by boat and was very nice. We received an informative lecture about all the activities that ranged from hiking to river trips and a visit to the local village. There is a whiteboard with lots of information about what's happening that day. It... More

I highly recommend going to Tortuguero by plane. The flight over is really pretty, on a clear day you will see the Irazu and Turrialba volcanoes from the air, fly over Braulio Carrillo National Park where see a huge expanse of rainforests and waterfalls from above you then fly over the banana and pineapple plantations of the Caribbean slope until... The hotel is quite simply gorgeous- amazing big colonial style rooms with hammocks for lazing in on the balconies. Fab pool. Gorgeous grounds. Lovely staff. Loved the trips we did with hotel guides (kayaking and boat ride) as the guides were so great at spotting wildlife. We spent a really amazing time here. The employees where kind and cordial from the very first minute, as well as the tour guides. You feel that it is truly important to them, to let you have a great time. There is really not much to say, it was simply unforgettable. Any time again!!

Located few metres from the river, this "hotel" is simply amazing. The rooms are very rustic, with no windows (just net screens to keep away the insects), no a/c - just a ceiling fun. You are awaken early from the cries of the howler monkeys and birds. The restaurant is excellent and the service friendly and efficient. Here you are... More

Thank you so much for sharing how much you enjoyed your stay at the lodge. We are delighted that you had such a good time!
