We spent 4 nights at Tortuga Lodge at the start of April and I had tears in my eyes when our plane took off - I wanted to cancel the rest of our trip and just stay there! First of all, I'll speak to Tortuguero. The area is breath-takingly beautiful. While boating or kayaking down the rivers and canals in... More

We booked our entire 3 week trip with Costa Rica expeditions - it could not have been better. We had an amazing holiday, the itinerary was brilliantly organised and worked like clockwork. Our first stop was at tortuga lodge, which is a fantastic place to stay. the staff were so friendly and helpful; the boat tour, kayaking, early morning bird... More

Dear Maggie625, Thank you for taking the time to review Tortuga Lodge & Gardens, we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay, and the rest of your holiday in Costa Rica. I am glad that all of your activities (and it looks like you had a great variety of them) were so much fun. Equally it’s good to see that... More

No complaints except, by the end, felt a little like a holiday camp. Amazing location though and rooms lovely and clean. Staff great too. Food could be better. Brilliant rips available too and the village nearby is lovely.

Dear Jimmyfarold, Thank you for the review, I am glad you found the location to be amazing, and enjoyed your different excursions from the Lodge. I understand that with the Lodge’s location and quiet ambiance, it can after a few days begin to feel a little isolated to some. A lot of people really love that sense of exclusion, and... More

We loved it here. Arriving by boat (the only way!) you are met by smiling staff with drinks and cool towels. Rooms are large and comfortable. The pool area is lovely, right next to the river, surrounded by gardens, and when we were there, complete with a huge iguana! The lodge has its own rainforest walks, and wellies are provided.... Dear Greenjag, Thank you for the review, I am thrilled that you guys loved the Lodge. In this corner of Costa Rica the rivers are the roads, and as you say, one way or another all guests arrive at the Lodge by boat. Of course for some that is a quick boat across from the airstrip after a thirty minute... More

We planned our trip through Costa Rica Expeditions and were ecstatic that we booked this lodge thru them. As our boat docked and we were warmly greeted with cold drinks and wash cloths, our expectations were quickly exceeded. Our 3 days there were amazing. Delicious food served at wonderful waterside tables , 5 star service from every person (even the... More

Dear Suep628, Wow! What a great review! Thank you very much for sharing, I was very happy to share your review with all the staff at the Lodge. Your generous words speak for themselves about both the Lodge’s remarkable setting, and how pleased we are with our staff. I hope you visit again sooner rather than later! Sincerely, Natalie Ewing... We arrived to the hotel quite late after a long day in the national park of Tortuguero. It costs 10 usd to get to the lodge via local taxi boat, too bad that the lodge does not offer a transit service of their own. The room we got is the upgraded one, with a second floor view over the river,... More

Dear SagiRo777, Thank you for the review, I am glad you enjoyed your room and waking up to the sounds of nature. We do offer a free shuttle from the town; it leaves at set times to correspond with the movement of our hotel staff from town (where most live) to the Lodge just downriver. That information and the boat... More

Tortuga Lodge is exceptional. I choose it in an effort to avoid large crowds of people. Both my son and I dearly appreciated the warm courtesies of all the staff and the natural beauty of every aspect of the Lodge - every moment (and extraordinary mouthful!!) was a wonderful treat.

Dear Mama693, Thank you for such a warm review. I am thrilled that you and your son enjoyed the Lodge setting, and the cozy feel of things in our corner of Costa Rica’s Atlantic coast. I hope the two of you can visit us again someday, and that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Costa Rica. Sincerely, Natalie... More

What a wonderful place to visit and stay! The staff were sincere, fun, helpful, friendly and approachable. Sleeping in rooms with no windows, but screens, allowed us to hear the sounds of the jungle at night: howler monkeys, birds and so much more. We purchased the all-inclusive package that provided air or ground/boat transport. We really enjoyed seeing the land... More

We traveled through Costa Rican Expeditions and this was our second and third night in Costa Rica. This Eco friendly lodge was a wonderful accommodation - we would have liked to spend three nights instead of two- we visited nearby parks and kayaked. The staff was friendly and the guides were helpful identifying wildlife. The property has several trails to... More

Dear GDJM1234, It’s great to read that you enjoyed your stay, and I'm sorry to see you felt you had to leave too soon (it's an emotion all of us here who don’t live at the Lodge are quite familiar with!) - but hopefully you can visit us again one day as you mention. There is always more to see... More

We stayed two days at Tortuga Lodge. This is a wonderful eco friendly hotel, comfortable with pleasant friendly staff. We did not purchase a package, however, and the staff were not at all helpful arranging transfers and Tortuguero is only available by plane or boat. The directions took us to the public boat transfer which required wading through water with... More
