We stayed at Tortuga Lodge for 3 nights July 2014. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The kids enjoyed the pool and we all loved the beautiful natural surroundings. We went on a guided boat trip and a kayaking trip in Tortuguero National Park, and saw a sea turtle laying her eggs at night. Our son and daughter are both... More

My son and I stayed her and it was the most delightful eco-lodge we frequented in Costa Rica. The rooms were completely comfortable, the wildlife on sight and in Tortuguero were inspiring. It's so special to wake up to the sounds of exotic birds and monkeys. The staff were very helpful and we were not deterred by a little rain... More

Dear Jack W, I am very glad that you and your son had such a nice time at our lodge. I saw that you stayed at the Tortuga Lodge & Gardens in July which is definitely in our tropical rainy season or our “green season” as we like to call it. Though the rain can be an issue for some,... More

We arrived by public boat service by La Pavona which was adequate! The boat drives are great and it took us 1hour to arrive. I was initially sceptical (coming from London) but after arriving at the lodge with my luggage in tact I could see that everyone in this area are there to make you comfortable and look after you!!... Although we did not go to Tortuga Lodge during turtle nesting season, my son (6) and I (mom) visited in May, and had a superb experience. The day trips and guides were incredible and we saw many species we were hoping to see (monkeys, bats, porcipines, iguanas, a viper, and a tarantula and more). The tours were fun and varied:... More

So glad we visited tortuguero on this trip. Lots of rain but didn't matter. Hotel was very nice. Staff very helpful. Kids loved pool. Rooms spacious and fit well with environment. Staff very helpful in planning activities. Favorites were boat excursion and word tour to read with local children. This was one our kids favorite activities of whole trip to... More

Overall an excellent experience at Tortuguero Lodge! My wife and I booked a trip through Costa Rica Expeditions to explore Costa Rica for our first time. Tortuguero was our first stop on our trip and we're already wondering how the rest of the trip could top it. Service was amazing (5+ stars) Food was very good (4.5 stars) Grounds were... More

Dear srish, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay at the Tortuga Lodge & Gardens. It was great to read that you enjoyed the lodge so much. You were right to mention that the reason we designed the rooms with the screens is to let the ambient rainforest noise in. It’s a sure way to... More

The staff here is one of the best in the business, everyone of our needs was taken care of. Celebrating our 15th anniversary and they took care of everything. The morning boat tour is well worth it as it allowed us to see, howler, spider and white face monkeys, six different types of birds, lots of iguana's and the Jesus... More

Dear Charles S, Thank you for posting your comments about how much you enjoyed your stay at the Tortuga Lodge & Gardens. It was great to read how much wildlife you got to enjoy while you were there. In March of 2014, my husband and I made our second trip to the enchanting Tortuga Lodge and Gardens. Everything we loved about our first visit (December 2012; review in TA) still held true this year, and there have been a few changes that we found to be improvements. We were a little apprehensive about visiting a second time after... More

Getting to the lodge was the start of the adventure. The bumpy road ride through the banana and pineapple plantations to the Caribbean coast wasn’t as bad as we’d anticipated. We didn’t realize there would be an hour-long boat ride to the lodge, which turned out to be great. We saw a couple different types of monkeys and beautiful jungle... More

Dear CK_Kate Your description of what you experienced at Tortuga Lodge made me smile. Tortuguero National Park was originally intended to protect a major... More

Stayed there for two nights. Staff is amazing. Make you feel like you are family. Restaurant service and food is great. You go there in a boat. Boat being the main mode of access to the place. Beautiful gardens. They surprised us with a candle light dinner under the stars one evening. Would highly recommend this place.
