We enjoyed being away from town in this lodge but I agree you do have to bear in mind the cost to and from town by boat and a little bit of hanging around for a boat. That said we loved having the pool to cool off in and my 2 teenage boys enjoyed the kayaks for a bit of... More

The Rana Roja Lodge is one of the better options if you want to experience the forest. The rooms are simple with net windows. The rooms are clean, but being that you are staying in the middle of the forest it is to be expected that you'll have some insect critter friends to deal with. There is a fan in... More

Spacious, clean and lovely cabinas surrounded by what seems to be a secondary forest, with cappucin monkeys and many frogs around you. We spotted 3 different frog species just near our cabina, and there are probably more. The breakfast was good and generous. The service was very warm and patiant, even when dealing with a mistake in our reservation. The... More

Stayed here for two days. I found the setting really beautiful. Property is well maintained. Pool area is fantastic. Food was basic and ok. No fine dining here. Free wifi. I thought the trip was well worth it. Takes a good 3 hrs from Siquirres (van/ 1.5 hr boat ride)! A short boat ride to Tortugero town. I wouldn't have... More

I have nothing but great things to say about this little lodge. A beautiful spot with charming little cabins, nice extras (like free boots, kayaks,a swimming pool, etc.), and a great opportunity to spot local wildlife - we saw frogs, lizards, monkeys, sloths, anteaters and birds of all variety. Staff was warm, courteous, and very helpful. Our room was well... More

Excellent surprise in the middle of the rainforest. Simple and clean accomodations where you can fall asleep listening to all the nature sounds (cabins have no glass windows, only nets). In lodge area you can find lots of monkeys, sloths and the "rana roja". That said, if you are not into nature, maybe not your kind of place. You need... More

We stayed for four nights/three days in January. It started excellently with a chilled watermelon drink and warm welcome from Daniel on arrival. I can echo what everyone has said about the location and wildlife in the grounds - lots of monkeys, including howlers on the roof and capuchins on the walkways, toucans in the trees, hummers, trogans, a red-eyed... Who’d have guessed that such a nice place could be found just off the river? The cabins and rooms are typically situated in the forest and accessed via slightly elevated walkways. Overlook any loose towel racks. Be pleased with hot water, showers, and flush toilets. For those who find nature dull, there’s a swimming pool and wi-fi. For the more... More

If you want the unique experience this is the place. Well designed to fit into the rainforest not to blur the surroundings. At night you can sit in your cabin and feel nature all around you . The sounds of the frogs, the howler monkeys, the birds as well as other creatures will heighten the spirit. If you are into... More

The hotel was in a fantastic location. Nestled in the forest, surrounded by wildlife. We heard the howler monkeys all day. The hotel offers fantastic service, by the family that runs the lodge. The meals were great, wonderful costa divan dishes.. One suggestion, more towels. There were no hand or face towels provided.
