The El Icaco is located right by the beach near the Tortuguero Nationalpark. It's the perfect place if you want to be both near nature and by the beach. They offer breakfast and clean, simple cabinas for a reasonable price. REcoomendable!

Although we visited in one of the wettest months for 10 years we were greeted with smiles by all the staff. The hotel is on the edge of town however it faces out onto the beach. Their rooms are quite basic and we didn't get hot water despite it being advertised. Be cautious of a local tour guide named Adolfo... More

Cute little budget hotel that is on the Beach side of Tortuguero Village. It was very pleasant even though it was Hot and Humid!! (30 days of rain in the last 30 days we were there the of July) Rooms are Older and a little worn but nice bright colors. Hot water in the shower and 2 fans that worked... More

Nice little place, friendly staff. Very hot here but I had a fan in my room. Place has wifi. Was also nice to relax in the hammocks looking at out at the sea. Had a little problem with ants but this was quickly resolved once I mentioned to the cleaners. I would recommend this place.

I arrived without a reservation and got a nice room with AirCon. The staff has been great and has gone out of their was to make me feel very comfortable. The food at the restaurant is also very good. Not surer about every room but the WiFi worked great in my room. The Shower was Warm, not "hot" but it... More

We flew in from San Jose by Nature Air in Tortuguero. Calixto arranged to have someone picked us up by boat from the airstrip to the village. There is also someone who greeted us at the dock and walked us to Icaco. We got there at 6:30 am and they let us checked in. My 14 year old is not... More

We stayed here for couple of nights and enjoyed chilling in the hammocks, admiring the Caribian sea. Our room was nice and clean. Staff in El Icaco was very helpful, so it was easy to plan tours and our journey to next destination. They even had a small restaurant where we had nice breakfasts.

I came here as part of my honeymoon. We wanted to visit Tortuguero and came upon this place. The reviews looked good and we thought we would give it a try. I emailed Calixto multiple times before my visit. He always responded. I was a little concerned about getting around since there are no cars, but Calixto arranged for a... More

Stayed for 3 nights last week and just great. Right on the beach (although don't venture too far off into the sea, very dangerous rip currents) but this is normal for all of tortuguero. No AC but not really needed despite the humidity the fans in the rooms and open windows provide fine sleeping. Tortugeuro is a very small village... More
