We stayed here for 2 nights with our 3 kids. The staff was extremely helpful but the rooms could use some help. The grounds were beautiful and the pool, although a bit tired, was refreshing. We were told the water shuttle was included, but it was not. The food was basic and did the trick. You could always order a... More

This is a good lodge if you are going to be spending most of your time outside your room (which you should!). The rooms are dark with little natural or artificial light, there is a floor fan (the ceiling fan hardly makes a dent). All the rooms share 2 walls with adjoining rooms. The property itself is very beautiful, the... More

My wife and I booked a 3-day 2-night Tortuguero package with Exploradores Outdoors as part of our Costa Rican honeymoon. The tour part of our experience was fantastic thanks to our awesome guide, Laura. La Baula Lodge was a decent place to stay and seemed to be on-par with the rest of the lodges spread across Tortuguero. It has a... More

Great Lodge, beautiful facility in a secluded location with water shuttle for guests to go to the village. Friendly staff, very helpful. There are a variety of tours available to book at the lodge. Rustic rooms, but enough for the jungle. Breakfast is included but could be better.

We spent here one night and we are glad it was not more. Place is charging $35/night/person. For this money you get very old room were not everything works, old pool, old and used restaurant, terrace over water and few other old things. Shuttle service (to cross channel and get there) is not included - you need to order water... More

We stayed here for one night as part of a package with Exploradores Outdoors and the hotel was a good base. You get an individual cabin, the rooms are basic (no AC) but were clean. There is a pool on site which was nice and you have access to free wifi and wellie boots if needed for the local walks.... More

The place looks nice and is on a nice location. The food is good. The rooms are somewhat small and basic, but pretty much okay. We reserved a room for 4 people, we got two rooms for two people. Woke up in the morning by the Howler monkeys!. Swimming pool a bit small. Dinner area nice and good view of... More

We stayed for 2 nights at La Baula. First impression when we got off the boat was unwelcome: quite some staff was watching us getting off with big bags, nobody helped or greeted us warmly. The room was horrible. Very outdated, it really needs some painting and make over. The fan was crap. The receptionist was friendly, informative and very... More

We spent a great time in our first trip to Costa Rica. The crew was very friendly, the food was good. The room was kind of simply, but clean and comfortable! They have a nice pool. I recommend this place. Good prices.

My husband and I visited La Baula on the first leg of our Honeymoon and we were not disappointed! The location is great, it is outside of the main village and only accessible by taxi boat, which gave us a great opportunity to see the sights. The rooms are basic but let's face it you are in the middle of... More
