We were due to spend two nights here but due to an error by our UK tour operator we were a day late arriving into Costa Rica so lost a night here. The lodge is built to serve a purpose and that is to allow trips on the canals to see the wildlife. It seems that a two-night stay is... More

I loved this hotel! First thing is that you must go here knowing that it's simple yet great! This is not a 5 start resort with all the amenities so do not go into this expecting that but expect to be whisked away from your daily life and thrust into the rainforest where you can hear the howler monkeys (sound... Wow this place is amazing, completely not what I was expecting. The cabin we were staying in was so comfortable and clean, it doesn't have windows but still no real bugs got into our room. You feel like you are living in the rainforest, its just amazing. The hotel comes with a package, the trip from San Jose was comfortable... More

A place you HAVE TO experience to understand. You sit in the middle of the rainforest with nature all around you. Luxurious camping is how I'd refer to it. You don't even notice there is no TV--who needs it with all the natural sounds. Only accessible by boat, which is part of the experience. Walk the grounds, take it all... More

We really loved this lodge. First you travel by boat up and amazing river where you get to see lots of wildlife. We were greeted with a lovely fruit cocktail. Our lodges were truly amazing. Lovely veranda with rocking chairs on to while away a few moments. Lovely en-suites, and rooms with fans. Amazing grounds. Food delicious. Wifi only worked... More

An amazing lodge in a great location . We were woken (early) by Howler monkeys every morning. The trips were worth doing we saw Camen, lizards, sloths, frogs, monkeys and numerous magnificent birds. Our guide Manfred was excellent. The swimming pool and pool bar were also outstanding, really fun to see the monkeys on the waterfall just before it started flowing.... More

Evergreen Lodge is an eco friendly hotel. Stayed here for two nights as part of a Collette Tour. No A/C but a ceiling fan. It did cool off at night. No hair dryer, in room safe, umbrellas, wifi only at reception but it rained a lot so wifi was spotty. Beds and pillow are good. Breakfast, lunch & dinner -... More

We stayed here as part of a Thomas Cook/Collette tour. Arriving by boat from La Pavona was a fantastic experience in itself, and I don't think I've ever been more excited than when we arrived at this hotel. It's a beautiful piece of peaceful paradise. All of the rooms are on stilts (we discovered why when we were caught in... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2015

It's so difficult to assess a stay in the rainforest like the one at the Evergreen Lodge, simply because it sits outside the usual parameters of hotels. Certainly if you come here expecting big city luxury you will be sadly disappointed but, on the other hand, if you are expecting the most basic of accommodation you will probably be pleasantly... The package included pick up from San Jose, travel by bus then boat to Toruguero, then back again, plus all meals and trips out. We actually needed to drive across there as we were carrying on from Tortuguero down the east coast, but were able to arrange to follow the bus and leave the car in a safe place while... More
