The manager at the hotel was always around the common areas, asking everyone if they needed anything else to make their stay even more enjoyable. Very pleasant staff and service, and the views and sounds of the jungle are very calming. Not to mention that you're practically across the street from the beach!

We stayed at this hotel about 4 years ago when it was named Hotel Buganvilla and it had a distinctively european feel.....crisp, well maintained, competent staff....owned by Italians I believe. We recently stayed on March 17 & 18, 2015 and the hotel has deteriorated significantly since our first stay.....lots of deferred maintenance in the public areas, the reception office is... More

Please do not stay here. We had an absolutely awful experience when we stayed in January this year!! Be warned. We were on a GAdventures trip (apparently this isn't the usual hotel that GAdventures usually use but there was a festival on at the same time in town and the usual central hotel was fully booked). Whilst the actual place... More

We stayed here for 2 nights, quite a walk to a not very wonderful beach and a taxi ride into town. No hot water at all in the large but simple bathroom. Pool pretty with hammocks. Breakfast basic but ok, evening meal on the pricey side. Room quite dark and we were not given the safe key at first and... More

We stayed here for 4 nights over New Year. It seemed to be a family run place and everyone who worked there was lovely. The wooden cabins are beautiful and the balcony faces the jungle which was a great way to wake up each morning. The pool are was great, with places to shelter from the Caribbean downpours and read... We found the hotel at the tourist information office at Puerto Viejo. It was very comfortable, the staff is the most friendly which I saw in my life. I can suggest all of people, who would like to enjoy the Caribbean sea. The most beautiful beaches very close to the hotel.... The hotel inside the forest, and you can hear... More

I recently had the opportunity to stay for 6 weeks at Hotel Bugabutik in Cocles, Costa Rica. As a writer, I was looking for a quiet location close to the beach and with good Wi-Fi connectivity. At Bugabutik, I found everything I was looking for and more. My cabin room had a balcony facing the rainforest jungle, home to a... More

Nice property, off the beaten path and if you do not have a car prepare for long walks or taxis. We had the private hut and I loved it. Anibel is a wonderful manager who really makes your stay perfect. Great staff-typical European owner who has the slight arrogant attitude to guests and staff. I am an American. Beautiful beach...
