Even though we did not stay at this hotel I wanted to leave a review based on our experience with the reception staff. We had been in Puerto Viejo for a couple of nights and wanted to move hotel to be closer to Cocles beach. After an afternoon at the beach we noticed Cariblue which looked appropriate. On enquiring about... More

We stayed in a bungalow which ended up being confortable enough. It was nice to hear the noise of the forest at night (cigales, monkeys). We were not happy by service at restaurant and front desk. Check in was not good, restaurant personnel was rude ... our only experience in 2 weeks in Costa Rica where we met so many... More

We stayed six nights with our two children in an Ocean Beach Front Room, a few meters across the road to Playa Cocles, probably the nicest beach in the area. The room was fairly basic, but was well maintained and was cleaned every day. With ceiling fans as well as air-conditioning, it was easy to keep cool at night. Our... More

Nice and clean, easy access to the beach. Close to Puerto Viejo if you don't mind a 30 or so minute walk. If you walk at night, the roads are not super well-lit. Breakfast was decent. They make eggs or pancakes fresh to order. The room was a bit plain, but was clean overall. I would stay here again.

There were many wonderful things about this hotel. The room, the location, the pool, the breakfast, and the tour information were all great. Unfortunately, the service at the front desk really left a lot to be desired. The attitude was a real put-off.

Puerto Viejo will definitly not be the most beautifull or most memorable place which we visited during our 26 day stay in Costa Rica, but Cariblue Hotel was absolutly a very nice hotel near the Carribean sea. You can see tucan, monkeys, frogs and all manner of other critters right next to your room (sometimes even in your room unfortunatly)... More

Don't expect luxe accommodations. But the location and grounds are lovely; the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Seems like they are in the midst of upgrading which is great. Especially as the price is a bit steep for what you get. My biggest comment would be an upgrade to their linens (towels and bedding). I must note that I remember... More

Stayed here for 5 nights and definitely enjoyed my stay. During the day I would lay in one of the hammocks and get some reading done or walk across the street to a great beach. At night I would walk about 10 minutes to get to the main part of Puerto Viejo then head back to spend some time in... More

The hotel property is beautiful and the rooms are quite nice. Our room was upstairs and a pretty good size. It had sliding wooden doors that don't really seal very well at the bottom. That might be an issue for a place where there are a lot of things that creep around. It bothered my sister enough that she got... More

We arrived on May 19th via a bus from San Jose which was about a 3 hour ride that was pleasant. The grounds are beautiful and very tropical. We paid 90 USD a night and were greeted and given a tamarando fruit drink on arrival. The property has WiFi and Sky satellite TV. There are actually 2 hotels here –... More
