I stayed here for 3 weeks and I was very impressed by this eco-resort. Lets start with the good. Included in my stay was 3 vegetarian meals a day. Not once was I disappointed in what was cooked, and we hardly had a repeat. The things that were repeated were requested because they were a group favorite. The rooms were... More

We stayed at Samasati for 5 days and wished it could have been longer. The drive up into the rainforest is breathtaking and an adventure in itself. When you arrive the staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in bungalow 8 and it was an amazing 360 view of the rainforest. The howler monkeys are everywhere and loud! Meals... More

Samasati is a lovely nature retreat located 10 minutes from Puerto Viejo and the Caribbean Sea, and about a 5 hour journey via Interbus shuttle from San Jose airport. The drive winds through mountains and is scenic. The second you arrive at the retreat, located 1.5km up a mountain, you instantly feel relaxed and at home as the friendly staff... More

Samasati is incredible. We came here on our first trip to Costa Rica after making stops in Arenal and San Jose, but could have easily foregone some of that time for a few more days in the rain forest. Don't be put off by the four hour drive from San Jose -- most locations are several hours from SJO anyway,... More

Very calm and beautiful hotel. Located up on a mountain so if you go by car a 4x4 is needed. The surrounding nature is spectacular though and the view from the bungalows are amazing. The bungalows have no glass in the windows, only mosquito net so it can get a bit chilly in the night. However the sounds of the... More

Dear Henric H, We're happy you visited! It's true, life on the rainforest mountain ridge is very calm and beautiful. They say nature sounds have a deep healing effect on us so we're glad you're a fan of the beautiful night time orchestra. To clarify, if guests do not have a 4x4 car, it's ok, we have a shuttle that... More

This was a great place. Very quiet and peaceful. Well maintained. Delicious food. Courteous accommodating staff. Had a great massage. Did a nice trek through the rainforest and saw lots of creatures many very close to my room. The yoga was excellent.

I enjoyed a lot my stay at Samasati. The place is amazing, quiet and relaxing. Is a little far from the city center, so you definitely need to have a car. The food is veggie and there are not too many options, so I recommend buying some stuff (Snacks, drinks...) in the supermarket before going to the hotel.

Dear Thalita, Thank you for your review and we hope you make it back to Samasati soon for more relaxation in nature! While it's true a 4X4 vehicle is needed to reach our property overlooking the Caribbean, we do have shuttle service that runs up and down the hill all day everyday until about 9pm. In addition, we have a... More

To hike through a rainforest is one thing but to live in one quite a different experience. Perhaps one of the most breathtaking places I've had the pleasure to be apart of.
