I returned for my second time to Samasati just 6 months after my first stay there. I can't say enough about this place. Its seclusion away from the busyness of the world, just being amoungst and one with nature is incredibly healing, humbling and relaxing. Being a solo, young female traveler I feel incredibly safe at the resort. The individual... More

I would recommend Samasati to anyone who wants an extraordinary adventure in nature. After traveling to over 140 countries, Samasati is the only place I want to return...again and again!! Sleeping in the bungalows overlooking the Caribbean, waking up to the sound of howler monkeys, eating incredible vegetarian food, and participating in activities from yoga to zip lining. Our foundation,... More

This place was in a gorgeous setting, the staff was very nice and the food and service was great. I'm in love with the bungalows and the walks to the other buildings. Tge atmosphere was soothing and I loved the offered yoga.

This trip was a personal retreat for me for healing and sanctuary. The staff were and are fantastic- very friendly with concern for your welfare. Fantastic communication and flexibility in arranging this from the start with Liseth. This is the rainforest and I went during the rainy season so there was lots of rain. Lush, verdant, humid primary rainforest environment with... More

My stay at the Samasati was absolutely phenomenal. Every staff member I met was helpful, courteous, and went above and beyond for every guest. The food was exceptional - I give props to Don Carlos who prepared the world's most delicious meals. Truly outstanding! And, finally, the rooms and views...they are simple, safe, comfortable, and remind you of the mantra... More

I stayed here for 3 weeks and I was very impressed by this eco-resort. Lets start with the good. Included in my stay was 3 vegetarian meals a day. Not once was I disappointed in what was cooked, and we hardly had a repeat. The things that were repeated were requested because they were a group favorite. The rooms were... More

We stayed at Samasati for 5 days and wished it could have been longer. The drive up into the rainforest is breathtaking and an adventure in itself. When you arrive the staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in bungalow 8 and it was an amazing 360 view of the rainforest. The howler monkeys are everywhere and loud! Meals... More

Samasati is a lovely nature retreat located 10 minutes from Puerto Viejo and the Caribbean Sea, and about a 5 hour journey via Interbus shuttle from San Jose airport. The drive winds through mountains and is scenic. The second you arrive at the retreat, located 1.5km up a mountain, you instantly feel relaxed and at home as the friendly staff... More

Samasati is incredible. We came here on our first trip to Costa Rica after making stops in Arenal and San Jose, but could have easily foregone some of that time for a few more days in the rain forest. Don't be put off by the four hour drive from San Jose -- most locations are several hours from SJO anyway,... More

Very calm and beautiful hotel. Located up on a mountain so if you go by car a 4x4 is needed. The surrounding nature is spectacular though and the view from the bungalows are amazing. The bungalows have no glass in the windows, only mosquito net so it can get a bit chilly in the night. However the sounds of the... More

Dear Henric H, We're happy you visited! It's true, life on the rainforest mountain ridge is very calm and beautiful. They say nature sounds have a deep healing effect on us so we're glad you're a fan of the beautiful night time orchestra. To clarify, if guests do not have a 4x4 car, it's ok, we have a shuttle that... More
