This place is located 1 stone from a beautiful beach Playa Negra ,about 20 minutes walk from the village Puerto Viejo. The pros of the hotela are: -quiet and safe location -you can practically have the beach to yourself -nice ocean view and birds singing -wild animals watching from your balcony(i could see Tucans,Sloths,Squirrels from my balcony) -it is very... - Breakfast --> There is practically no breakfast, omelettes are, I don't know how to describe them. Rooms: Spatious, but the first night we arrived we had 20 dead flies lying around and when the "manager" showed us the room, a cockroach passed the floor and I was shocked. He killed saying "let me get that for ya" ...... We... More

We loved this place. The carefree, rustic and low key energy of the space and the staff was exactly what we needed in an "emergency" (because how much of an emergency can you have in CR?). On our honeymoon, a broken septic tank in our original hotel left us with nowhere to go in the Puerto Viejo area because it... More

Wow, where to begin. Lets start with some stuff you will need to know about this hotel or resort which it is allso called on some sites. the bad stuff: There is no resturant in this hotel, there is no bar - they don't have liquer license yet. And none of the rooms we rented had anything else that one... More

I wish it were only 7 plagues, but there were many more issues with this place than one could count. We booked this 11 night Christmas vacation through Expedia, and relied on the rating system and photos, only to find that the photos and ratings were completely different from reality. This place is far beyond the "rustic description" of the... More

To start with I grew up in Costa Rica and I know what "Cost Rican Rustic" is and this hotel is not that. The name is the first lie of this establishment, this is neither a hotel nor a resort. This is best described as a backpackers lodge or hostel. There is no restaurant, no bar, no food anywhere except... More

The rooms are traditional Costa Rican rustic and have a mountain lodge feel even though you are mere steps from warm Caribbean waters. The lady that was working the front desk was a wonderful help on anything we needed. We were well taken care of and each day had a fabulous fresh made breakfast in the open air dining. At... More

I stayed here 3 years back when purchasing my property. When my parents finally came for a visit got them a room on the bottom floor, witch was great because she uses a walker. They loved the place! Still talking about it and all the people they met there on their visit and they loved the breakfast! The staff was... More

The rooms have not been updated since the 90's. This includes sheets, mattress, and towels. The service is nonexistent and there is no management to assist with complaints and needs. It simply has negative energy and does not represent a Pura Vida lifestyle.
