i have visited Puerto Viejo Limon so many times, but definitely this place gives it bad reputation. My family and I, including a 4 year-old, got sick. According to Alejandra, the owner, the water is ONLY for coffee, teeth brushing, vegetable and fruit washing and showering BUT not for drinking. However, this is not true, the water had this brownish... More

I stayed at Walaba Hostel a couple weeks ago. It was my first time there and I very much enjoyed my visit. Sarah (the woman in charge) was very accommodating and friendly. The room was nice, two twin beds and a full sized bed (complete with mosquito net). The bathrooms were not attached to the room but were located about... More

I had a great stay here! I was in one of the 6 person rooms and we had no problems with bugs or animals in the room. This room also had it's own spacious bathroom and shower. Great location (2 min walk to the beach, close to a great restaurant). There was also free wifi and water jugs! If you... More

Excellent stay in gorgeous surrounds. The 3 staff I saw working there were all amazing and super friendly! I had a private cabin which came with a kitchen, fridge and nice bathroom. Punta uva is a little far out of town (7km I think) but lovely being a bit out of Puerto Viejo as it was quiet and directly opposite... More

It is a very nice place at a very nice location. Lots of birds and howlwers and whitw faced monkeys and slothes in the environs. But... I stayed there 2 weeks over christmas and wanted to extend over new year after 3 or 4 days. They kept me hanging hoping for as long as possible and I ended up with... More

I chose Walaba Hostle because it was between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. I wanted a quiet place. One that was walking distance from the main tourist stops. Walaba was exactly what I was looking for! Quiet, clean, rustic, helpful staff. In either direction on the beach you can find spots were you are the only person in site. Go a... More

Walaba is a neat, tree-house hostel. There are plenty of places to sit and relax inside and out, plus it is only a 50m walk to one of the best beaches on the Caribbean coast. The place is huge, secure and a fun little layout but none of the experience made it worth $20 a night. You get so little... More

Stayed here for 5 days last year and would love to go back. Such great memories. Hosts were really friendly and helpful. All the guest were relaxed and nice. Went on to panama from here and wish that I just stayed put for a while longer.

Great place to stay! My partner and I stayed here for one week in the `attic room` almost every morning we would wake up to howler monkeys and the birds, even saw a few sloths. Cute and cosy room, great open kitchen with everything we needed to cook for ourselves. Vincent, who I think was the manager at the time,... More

I went there in march 2014. We were supposed to spent 5 nights and finally we spent only 23 hours!!!! I'm a backpakers, but I need a little bit of comfort. The place is nice, I was happy when I saw the place, but when I saw my room, it was horrible. It was a hard-packed surface, all in wood,... More

Walaba it´s been one of my dreams coming true 24 years building it with care, love and many jungle difficulties. In all these years I was not able -because of family reasons- to live and manage my place so it´s been managed by other assalary strangers that obviously they careless of my place. Nevertheless I want to inform that since... More
