You can't beat the view...you are steps away from the ocean and its a 3 minute walk to the Cahuita National Park...where you will have a sandy beach, tours of the park ,or maybe try your hand at surfing! Its a 3 minute walk to town, and a 5 minute walk to the bus station! All rooms have a porch or balcony... More

Spencer's was perfect for what we wanted at the beach. Waterfront location with the glorious white noise sound of waves crashing up against the sea wall. (I see some reviews disliked that aspect, but for us it was a major plus. In addition to the soothing sound of water, it blocked any and all racket from town such as cars... More

Rooms are basic but with taste. There are great hammocks hunging next to te sea so u can relax listening to the sound of waves. Lodge is very close to the entrance to Cauhita N P, shops and bus station.

I stayed here with a group in June. It is a great value right on the waterfront. Not a beach, though: a rocky breakwater the waves crash against. I love the sound of that; you may not. Sandy beaches are a few minutes walk away. Restaurants in town are also just a few minutes walk into town. You can walk... More

This is a no-frills place that is infused with a great atmosphere. If you are looking for 5* facilities, go somewhere else, but if you want a simple good value place to sleep and hang-out, you could do much worse. It's just a few minutes walk to the village centre, right on the beach. There's no air conditioning but the... More

The write ups sounded good, so to keep costs down we booked a night. Thankfully it was only one night. We were on the ocean, but it's a rocky breakwater with waves crashing on it and we needed ear plugs to get to sleep. It's very hard to find any one working there, the communal kitchen is extremely tiny and... More

The whole place is weird during low season except the amazing nature but you need to stay somewhere. Spencers was not very clean, not roomy nor cosy. Trash cans in front of the hotel by hammocks were not emptied for three days and I doubt if they did it ever. Seaside view is nice but waves are very noisy so... More

This has been the very beginning of our trip - and once again Lonely Planet was right... We went around a corner and found ourselves in front of the Atlantic Ocean at its best, in a lovely little garden facing the waves and the rooms overlooking everything: some at ground, some above on the first floor with a minimal difference... Only spent one night here and loved the location on the water. There is great space to relax, unfortunately it was raining so we didn't get to hang out there as much as we wanted. The room we had was basic and clean and had hot water for the shower. This is all we needed. the owners were nice, but spoke... More

The location of Spencer's is very good and right next to the ocean. That is all good we have to say and this place is only recommendable if you are really on a tight budget. This lodge is quite run down and could be much better with some maintenance.
