Day 2- Awaken by the birds, I  took a walk around the farm and then over the hill. Once again I was in awe of all that is unknown to me. Like the way young mares frolic with each other or witnessing the brightest red on the under belly of a black bird. I think to myself that is the... More

Staying at Finca Rio Perla was an incredible vacation. I would go as far as saying it as a life changing experience to see the natural beauty of the farm, the simplicity of the self-sustaining lifestyle and the feeling that the world is really bigger than your small self. When first visiting the farm you need to put a lot... More

I stayed at the beautiful Finca Rio Perla in the main Posada Rustica for 3 days. Paul, the owner arrived from out of town the same day I did so I got to explore the massive sprawling farmland with him as he surveyed the land seeing what was new (such as the newly built stables for the horses they own)... We adored our week stay at Fina Rio Perla. Kids (8,11 girls) and I loved horse-back riding to ice cream, "helping" round up bulls, spectacular waterfalls, drinkable river, leaping off cliffs, cooking with Vivien, collecting chicken eggs, playing with goats, fishing for tilapia, milking the goats and trying with the cow. Vivien's feasts were healthy and delicious. Most of all,... More

One of my favorite part of the 2 night stay was our trips to the waterfalls. Already sitting on a mountain side on a secluded road, these waterfalls are not visited by anyone except the visitors of the farm. So in seclusion, in privacy, and with BLUE BUTTERFLIES overhead, one can enjoy these clear water pools with water rushing down... More

This place is wonderful. Part of its beauty is how secluded it is- literally off the beaten path. The views are incredible and it was a great way to experience Costa Rica. I did the package of 7 days 6 nights with meals and activities included. It's up to you as a visitor how much or little you make of... More

Very highly recommended for those looking to stay off the beaten path, as it is literally about 1/2 hr off the paved road! :) The hosts, Vivian & Efrain are as genuine and warm as they come! Rick was our guide while we were on the farm and he was a walking encyclopedia of farming and vegetation, willing to share... More

This is an amazing farm. It's not for everyone... The road up there is barely a road, more like a collection of rocks and potholes. The good news is that there's no traffic so you can send your young children over to collect eggs or whatever with no fear anyone will be within a kilometer of a car or truck.... More

I went to Costa Rica for 2 weeks, mainly for a change of pace from the urban life I am so used to. I didn't really have any set goals other than to learn a new way of life, eat food from the ground, and learn a little bit about living on a farm. And to drink coconut water out... More
