Selve Verde Rainforest Lodge, 24th March 2015; length of stay, 3 nights If you go there, please, please make sure you are NOT stuck out in one of ‘the Bungalows’ – they are 0.6 km from the main buildings, across the main road!! Rooms ok, shower not great in our room. Food in main restaurant buffet style, good enough but... More

Compared with our previous lodges in CR the food was a bit underwhelming, choices somewhat limited. Not helped by the fact that 1 pineapple had to be shared by 20-30 people one breakfast time. The Pizzeria served excellent pizzas but was very low profile. Bar staff great. Rooms on the other hand are splendid. A great relief from the hot,... More

We stayed here for 3 nights with our kids who are 6 and 7. It was really nice because it's really like your sleeping in the woods. You can hear the animals around you, especially the howler monkeys. We did the guided tour which was very interesting and we could see a lot of animals. It was a private tour... More

This lodge didn't look much when we drove up from the road. But get inside it's truly an amazing place. The Gardens are full of birds and iguanas and lizards. The river runs along the back and is stunning. There is a very small pool, and a hanging bridge over the river which you are allowed to walk across but... More

Rooms are screened so no ac. They get quite hot during the day but cool off a bit at night. There is a ceiling fan. It is very basic. Bring your own shampoo as only gel is provided. You are in the middle of a nature area so be prepared to wake early from the howler monkeys. You will hear... More

We were here for two nights as we birded the surrounding area. Although the rooms at the lodge are rustic, they were clean, and we loved having only screens and shutters on the windows so we could hear the sounds of the jungle during the night. There are hammocks on the corners of each pod of rooms. One of my... More

As always, Selva Verde has everything - wildlife such as frogs and howler monkeys, and a wide variety of birds. There are multiple educational moments, from the daily information sessions to the chance to walk in primary forest or boat down the Sarapiqui River. This lodge is dedicated to sustainability, while also offering excellent food choices and personal amenities. We... More

Selva Verde is a great place to stay, but don't stay on the highway side. Due to building going on the highway on the west side, a lot of trucks pass at all hours. The lodges on the jungle side are much quieter. A great place to bird, see herps, plants. The food is great. The rooms are fantastic and... More

We had a nice three days here. The river rooms were nice (further away from the road) with lots of room. The restaurant had a nice buffet met the varied food preferences of my group of 8. Eating breakfast on the deck looking at the bird feeders was a highlight. The guides (Ivan and Ronald) were fantastic and really worked... More

We stayed here as part of a birding tour. The accomodation is quite basic but is clean and tidy with good en-suite including shower. I have indicated that Wifi is available however note that this is only in public areas. A hair dryer was provided. Food was served buffet style and there was always enough choice to ensure that we...
