We only stayed one night so only a brief review... The rooms were excellent, large, two double beds. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of fresh fruit. There were even benches on a balcony to observe the wildlife at a feeding station. A small pool to mess around in and free internet for the children!. No faults on this one.

This was our second trip to Selva Verde Lodge, our first being 20 years ago! We still found the lodge to be very comfortable and the staff accommodating! Although the entrance is quite close to the road, the lush vegetation and configuration of the compound block the road noise. The insects and amphibians are abundant and easily seen from the... We stayed at Selva Verde during the second leg of a package offered with Pachira Lodge in Tortuguero Costa Rica (a separate review of that leg already posted). Our Itinerary was like this: Day one: Arrived after transfer by boat and ~20 minute car ride from Guapiles. We checked in and found that we were signed up for the following... More

We stayed here for two nights and had a great stay. Everything is peaceful at this place and we have seen many birds and mammals on the hotel grounds. We even saw an ant eater, several armadillos, tucans and did a great hike in the hotels primary rainforest with Ivan, a very kind and knowledgeable guide. We did see many... More

A great preserve within the rainforest. Excellent birding, wildlife watching and photography opportunies. The food at the lodge is excellent and all the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. One can see many birds animals right from the deck off the dining room.

Selva Verde is a jewel for birders with virgin rainforest, wonderful dining , great rooms, helpful and friendly staff. The hot tub and pool are relaxing. There are so many different birds to see and great morning birding hikes. It is not to be missed. They have Delicious fruit drinks and wood fire pizza. It is a very peaceful lodge.

We spent two nights here at Selva Verdi while touring "the natural wonders" of Costa Rica. Our room was pleasant, and the weather was cool. We had several outings into the surrounding countryside that were a lot of fun. We would stop here again.

Nice rooms. When we first arrived, it was hot. The room seemed hot, past comfortable. My thoughts were, 'uh, oh, no sleep for me'. But, I was pleasantly surprised. The nights in the room were plenty cool. Ceiling fans were enough. Had a guide for a night hike named Ivan. Excellent, knowledgeable. Nice bar and good Italian restaurant. Breakfast buffet... More

We chose to stay in one of the bungalows after reading a previous guest review about noise levels in the river rooms. It was definitely the right decision to make and worth paying the extra money for. Prior to going I had thought that air con (which the bungalows have but river rooms don’t) wouldn’t be important as a ceiling... More

This was our third stay at Selva Verde and the visits get better each time. Accommodations are clean, but simple. Each unit has about four rooms with a hammock at one corner. My favorite activity was lying in the hammock watching the afternoon rain pour down. All the walkways are covered so you can walk from reception to your room... More
