I really wanted to love this lodge but when we arrived it was not what I expected from reviews I read. I liked some things about the lodge but overall found the prices they charge out of line for the facilities. On the plus side, the location is good for hiking at OTS La Selva and the lodge staff where... More

The location of this hotel is absolutely amazing. When walking to the restaurant or reception you'd accidentally walk in to different kinds of beautiful frogs, lizards and birds. The downside of this were the several bugs that were living in our room. I personally didn't bother to much, but if you're afraid of bugs you should take this into consideration.... More

We stayed in a room by the river. Rooms are raised and connected by walkways. Felt like being in the forest. Large iguanas bask in the sun on the walkways at times, you'll have to work your way around them :-). Loads of wildlife just outside your window. Howler monkeys in the trees nearby. Clean and tidy place with great... More

Stay in clusters of raised rooms connected by beautiful elevated wooden walkways. Enjoy hearty, healthy local style food served buffet style. Great meals, B, L & D. Rooms are very clean, but simple with ceiling fans. Covered areas are useful for daily rain showers during the rainy season. Stayed 2 nights with my tour group. Fall asleep to an insect... More

The Lodge is the perfect place for learning about and experiencing the rain forest up close and personal. Lodge guides offer nature walks several times daily and the guides are informative and enthusiastic, able to point out the small things and paint the big picture too. The rooms are clean, spacious and simple and are located away from the common... More

This was our last stop on our birding adventure in Costa Rica. We were once again back into jungle habitat and surrounded by Black Mantle Howler monkeys and a variety of bird species. This lodge is located along a beautiful river with hiking trails that the guests can walk to enjoy the jungle habitat. The rooms are well maintained and... More

Stayed here for two nights in mid May. We chose the bungalows as they were off the road quite a ways. Not sure why but there are huge semi trucks that use the roadway outside of here. You do need to cross the road to get to the dining area from the bungalows. The walk from the bungalow to the... More

Traveled with a group of friends for primarily a birding expedition. This was our first hotel out of a total of four. The grounds are lovely and we saw many birds. The walkways are all covered which is good when that occasional shower. All of us loved sitting at the main dining room that overlooks the river. And for a... More

A stay at Selva Verde is the perfect place for an introduction to the rainforest of Costa Rica. Covered walkways are very much appreciated, especially during the rainy season. The reception area and grounds are a tropical paradise. Poison dart frogs are easily spotted as well as a variety of iguanas. The birding was still wonderful. I found the meals... More

Arriving at Selva Verde was a bit of a shock after the tucked-away serenity of Esquinas; nevertheless, it's a good place to stay for an action-packed wildlife watching experience. Selva Verde feels more like a conference hotel than an eco-lodge: you reach it right off a busy road and go straight into a plush reception area. There's a little lecture... More
