We stayed two nights here. This is my third trip to Costa Rica and probably the 9th such resort at which I've stayed. I went with a group of 10+ people. The negative comments regarding road noise are accurate, although some rooms are worse than others. I stayed in room 23 and found the noise to be atrocious. To add... More

Selva Verde is woven into a rainforest with rooms and many walkways raised one level above the ground. The woodwork on the raised paths and rooms is beautiful. The rooms are very spacious, clean and well-appointed. No AC (not expected) but good fans. Great bird and butterfly watching, including a botanical garden and hillside paths across the street. A suspended... More

The Lodge enjoys a tranquil setting and is maintained immaculately, the guides are first class and the excursions well worth it,particularly the bird-watching trips. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would love to return. If you get a chance include this in your itinerary,we loved Costa Rica in general and this was our favourite place. More

The lodge is located near a 500 acre Sarapiqui Rainforest preservation area which is a short walk across the Sarapiqui River using a hanging foot bridge. We didn't stay at the lodge but drove down from La Fortuna for the day (about and hour-and-a-half drive each way on very good roads). We hired Erick Guzman of Taraba Tours (http://www.tarabatours.com/). Erick... More

The lodge is fantastic in every way...clean, beautiful surroundings with lots of bird attracting plants, food is simple and good. Even when relaxing on the balcony outside our room we could watch birds right in front of us as all the rooms are at first floor level. The walks in the grounds allowed us to see plenty of colourful frogs... More

Stayed here three nights during a bird-watching trip to the rainforests closeby and the grounds of the lodge itself. Just about everything about the lodge was excellent - location, amenities, food, drink, prices, birding, room, rainstorms each evening (delightful), flora and fauna. One can bird from just outside the restaurant overlooking feeders all day long - can't be beat. River... More

Selva Verde Lodge is perfect for nature lovers, who enjoy the opportunity to socialise with like-minded people. There are 45 rooms, ours faced the river, with rocking chairs and hammocks outside, on stilted walkways set amongst lush rainforest. We saw many frogs, snakes, and lizards in particular here, both in the grounds and in the nearby La Tirimbina Reserve;a night... More

The Lodge rooms are on stilts but there is not much of a view as they are surrounded by trees. The rooms are clean and tidy but fairly basic. There is quite a lot of wildlife in the grounds and across the road in the botanic gardens. Food in the Italian Restaurant is not too badly priced and excellent. The... More

I enjoyed the tree house like atmosphere of the rooms. The rooms were comfortable and clean. There were some bugs in the room at times, but hey I was in a rain forest. The grounds were well maintained. I saw many frogs, birds and even an armadillo. The bar was good. The food was average (usual for a resort) I... More

I visited Selva Verde during Semana Santa, 2012. With my 14 year old and my 11 year old. The beauty of details, the friendly staff, the good food. The hamacs facing the river, the refreshing and impeccable pool surrounded by lush. All set in a well kept rainforest patch. PERFECT for smaller children or senior citicens to experience rainforest, Also... More
