A good place to stay in Sarapiqui. The restaurant was good and the breakfast was really quite excellent. The view from the restaurant was also great. The staff were friendly. The rooms, although clean, were a little outdated and could perhaps use an update. There were two very nice swimming pools as well as a frog and butterfly garden.

We stay but one night, if we had known sooner we would have stayed longer. Very quiet, wonderful grounds, great restaurant, very pleasant surroundings. Other places are recommended in this area, we saw them, Ara Ambigua tops them all. If you want to stay in Puerto Viejo to see birds, stay here. We started to staying at Posada Andrea Cristina... We took a slight detour to stop at this Lodge/Hotel just outside of the small town of Puerto Viejo ( the inland one...not the one on the coast)..thanks for the tip Lonely Planet. Great restaurant and terrace overlooking a bird and frog garden. There is also a butterfly walk and garden, that guests can access. Free wifi for guests and... More

Wanted to have a nice family Christmas dinner. We were staying at Posada Andrea Cristina and Alex, the owner recommended Ara Ambigua. We spoilt ourselves by ordering the 'filet mignon' which in Costa Rica weren't too bad @ $16/each. They were delicious and cooked perfectly. Mike the waiter was very nice and even gave us a few glasses of egg... More

Nice lodge, diner was very good. Nice garden with a froggarden and a excursion at night to see some animals. Breakfast was a little less, rooms were comfortable but the beds were very squeaky. Price good for what you get

Small lodge away from main road therefore not noisy, rooms are ok, AC in everyone of them, there is not TV. The gardens around the lodge are excellent for birding and some of the ponds outside the restaurant is very easy to find the beautiful Red Eyed Tree Frog, among others amphibians. Local food is mostly served but they have... More

We stayed two nights in these fine facilities. We had three lodges in one building, close to a couple of ponds containing birds, frogs and a cayman. Early in the morning we briefly spotted the cayman but for the rest it decided to hide himself somewhere between the vegetation of the pond. Humming birds and paraquites flew by, the only... More

Stayed here on an OAT trip. First stop on a tour of Costa Rica. Birds, though not.toucans, all over the place and easy to watch on the feeders while sitting out of the rain in the restaurant. It's a rainforest after all, so expect rain. The grounds are Ok, the rooms are simple but comfortable, there are two pools (I... More

The hotel has very nice property which you could wander around. Bird watching was good, frogs are at the pond and even saw a three toed sloth. The room was basic. My sliding glass door did not open so I could not use my patio. The mattress was thin and hard. The room was clean though. The dining area is... More
