Spent 6 days surfing in the intermediate program with Flash Miranda as my instructor. I was there to improve my surfing skills which I found Flash to be extremely knowledgeable in how to do that. He is a very good at critiquing and honing your skills. What I like the most about him is that there was no b.s. With... More

Six days here surfing. Staff was extremely helpful. Surfing was fantastic. Food was very good. Good happy hour from 5 to 7. If going surfing, ask for Raffa. Great instructor with good techniques. "Chicken wing" me hermano. I'll be back. Gracias!

HQ for legendary board shaper Robert August. A solid family friendly beach camp with board rentals and lessons. Pretty well organized and good prices. Good selection of boards from short to long and beginner to advanced. Also check out Vaqueros next door. (It's their bar restaurant)

If you can already ride a wave but want to progress, ask for Andrés. He genuinely cares about your progression and will take you to the best waves. Other instructors are on the clock and leave you to it. Andrés is respected by the locals meaning you can go to ride the best peaks. The locals are not so friendly... More

From the initial booking all the way through departure, the staff was super helpful and made everything so easy. They even helped us with setting up other excursions. I went with my boyfriend and we met great people right away who we hung out with when we weren't surfing! This was my first time surfing so having only 1 to... More

I decided to learn to surf at 43 with my two kids (10 and 11 in tow). I had met Joe on a previous trip and decided to check out his place. It turns out the town of Tamarindo is the perfect blend of tourists and locals, waves, sun, amazing food and so much to do. There are a number... More

What a great decision you made to learn to surf at 43! Seriously, any age is the best age to learn to surf, no matter what! In our crew, you are definitely on the younger side and have so much time to use your surfing skills elsewhere...or come back down again! Thanks for an amazing review! Make sure to keep... More

We never had to leave this sight unless it was for a run on the beach or to get shipped to another wave ! My husband and I got married in front of this camp and the family that owns and runs it surrounded us with love ! We literally flew over to surf and said I do at the... More

This was my third year going to Witch's Rock as a solo traveler, and the experience has always been amazing. It is a better experience each time! The hotel staff and surf instructors are motivating and helpful, whether you are a beginner or are more advanced. I plan to return many, many times!

The waiter basically ignored my friend and I. We had to call his attention to get catered. Food is excellent (gad breakfast and dinner). Prices are low and the facilities are nice. Service was terrible, the wait time to get beverages at dinner time was around 20 mins, 20 more to get food and 15 mins to get our check.... More

Hi BDC27! Sorry to hear that your experience with our service was below average in our restaurant. I know it was a very busy time, but that is no excuse and we will definitely make sure to improve the service so that all aspects of our restaurant are an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing & pura Vida! More

We had 12 virgin surfers ranging from 8 to 48 years old. Unlike most of the attractions we booked via email prior to arriving in Costa Rica, Witch's Rock did a great job of responding and explaining and keeping our reservation. They provided 5 instructors for our group so there was plenty of personalized attention (4 of the 5 were... More

Hey MarkSTl! Thanks for the review. Glad that your group enjoyed your daily surf program and sorry to hear that one of our instructors was not at par with the rest of our staff. It is always very helpful to have the name so that we can make sure that this problem doesn't occur again for any future clients! Pura... More
