this is a small boutique type hotel, the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is a little off the main Tamarindo 'strip' but this helps to ensure a better nights sleep as some of the bars are open pretty late. The beach is approx 8-10 mins walk from the hotel and there is parking outside. The breakfast which is... More

This place is truly unique with tons of character. We stayed in a bungalow near the pool and restaurant. It so great to be a short walk to everything in town and the beach without needing to stay in the middle of the craziness.

I want to start of saying I had an incredible experience, honestly at the beginning I wasn't sure because of the comments but I want to point out they are completely wrong and untruthful. I know everyone has different points of views and opinions but you got to be pretty nonsense to think bad about his tropical place. I read... More

This place was great! We stayed 5 nights and were very happy! Location: It's a 5 minute walk to the main part of town and down to the beach. It's on the south side of town so the beach here is a lot less crowded. Pool area: Like you're in a resort. It definitely makes you feel like you're in... More

My husband and I stayed here in January 2016 and we loved the bungalow we rented. This place is charming, unique and budget friendly. I would rather stay in a boutique hotel like this over a box hotel any day! The air conditioning worked great as well as everything else in the room. It is just a short walk to... More

Off the noisy party path, but just five minutes walk away, this hotel compound nurtures the soul. Composed of a circle of round bungalows centered by a pool and several shady areas for lounging, the hotel has been whimsically hand painted, inside and out, with nifty faux finishes and clever mini-murals. The tropical fabrics are a merry mismatch, and you... More

Someone has to offer counterpoint to Zeithria's tirade. I suppose it's got to be me, even if I have to risk dignifying it with a response. Luna Llena is the work of a young couple twenty years ago, fresh from Italy with a dream. Designed it themselves. Like Tamarindo, it doesn't fit the mold. I came to Tamarindo hoping for... More

Okay, so let me first start out by saying, the pictures make this property look amazing… and that’s where it ends. I see a lot of good reviews for this hotel, and I am beyond of understanding why. Now, I am not opposed to cheap accommodations. For example, when I book a Best Western, I expect a Best Western. When... More

For our second trip to Tamarindo, my boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Luna Llena for four nights. We picked this hotel because it was close to our friends staying at another hotel, the price was budget-friendly (less than $100 per night), and the rooms looked nice from the pictures. From our experience, our least favorite things about our bungalow... More

Our family spent three nights at Hotel Luna Llena the week prior to New Year's Eve. We found Pino and Simona, the owners of the hotel, to be very accommodating and very helpful. The Cabana was a great place to experience our first few days in Tamarindo. The kids loved the pool and the swim up bar. Raquel is the... More
