Hotel Luna Llena is a charming hotel, if/when I go back to Tamarindo I will definitely stay there. The hotel is run by a lovely Italian lady (who cooks absolutely delicious food too!!) and all of the staff were extremely accommodating and really made my stay! The bungalow rooms are great, we had a big and very comfortable bed on... More

I went to Costa Rica with my girlfriend at the beginning of April. I had to give them my credit card even though the rooms were already paid for (first sign!). We were back home in Canada as of April 13th. I see a transaction posted on my credit card account on April 20th (a week AFTER we had left!)... More

Hello, My name is Giuseppe Trimarchi and i am the owner of Hotel Luna Llena. What stated from Mrs. Kirsten McKernan is totally not true. Now to resume the fact our receptionist wrongly charge the credit card of Mrs. kristen and as soon we were contacted from the travel agency we refunded the money in the next 3 days. The... More

We stayed at Luna Llena for Easter weekend plus 3 more days and we had the most amazing time. The breakfast was just right, not to small but not to big. Eggs, rice n beans, fruit an pancake's. The coffee and mango juice was so good. Our bungalow was so much fun. Huge bed, huge living room and a great... More

We just came back from a week at Hotel Luna Llena and had a wonderful experience. We normally stay at large all inclusive resorts when we travel so this was a completely different experience for us and it was a very good one. The owners, Pino and Simona, couldn't have been any more accommodating and really go out of their... More

I booked the Luna Llena because of the bungalows. I really wanted a place to decompress from a pretty stressful several months stateside. After two nights in San Jose, I headed straight for the beach and landed in Tamarindo. It took a bit to find the hotel - it's not in the heart of the Tamarindo strip - a little... More

Hi there, I am writing this more in response to the last review as I feel it is a little unjust. While I understand that getting robbed is never a good feeling and my heart goes out to anyone that happens to, number one you are in Costa Rica, it does unfortunately happen. There are lots of warnings about petty... More

My husband & I were robbed of all our valuable belongings while we were out for 3 hours in the early evening right after we checked in to Luna Llena in Tamarindo. Let me start by saying this is not our first visit to Tamarindo or Costa Rica for that matter. We are lovers of the country and have visited... More

Stayed 1 night with my husband. The decor of the standard room was pretty harsh on the eye, and looked like they didn't want to invest in nice furnishings or art. We were woken up in the middle of the night by someone using the garden hose right outside our room, and could hear everything in the morning. Breakfast was... More

Hello, My name is Pino Trimarchi and i am the person in charge for Hotel Luna LLena. I want to clarify some points about this review because for my point of view is not correct and unfair. For the breakfast, for example, that the client rate "basic but decent" we offer 3 different choices: A) Typical (rice & beans with... More

Nice property with attactive landscaping and pool area. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was good local fare. Large room and bathroom--good for family travel. About 10 min walk to beach. Locations is a little tucked away so a bit challenging to find, but only delayed us a few minutes, and got a short tour of town finding it.

Stayed here for one night. The place itself is in a good location next to town and the rooms are large overlooking a pool area. Downside is that the room is supposed to have a posturepedic bed when it actually has a cheap foam mattress that is so old it's lumpy and almost useless. Hot water is low power and... More
