The lay out of this hotel with little villas around the pool made it a great place to meet people as it seemed to attract people who were chatty and relaxed, and i really recommend it. I would advise getting air conditioning and taking one of the pool villas, really reasonable prices. They have free internet, a kitchen you can... more
Stayed 3 nights. Probably should have kept it 1-2 nights. But this is more to do with that I didn't find Tamarindo too interesting. Villas Macondo is a well run place. We felt safe parking our car in their gated lot. Our room was a good deal at $65. All amenities included. A/C, TV, small porch with table, chairs and... more
We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite at no extra charge. The room was huge and spotless, and the hot showers were great. The pool was nice, and free internet was a good touch. Ask for room 17 if you can get it. The local Canadian resident Tony in room 16 was a great guy, and also very nice and... more
I backpacked through Costa Rica for a month in April 2006. I met up with a friend for 5 days in Tamarindo and we stayed here ~ mostly because it had a pool and I had picked it from my Lonely Planet guide. The location was great, pool refreshing, hammock a great way to chill. There was construction noise at... more
We just turned up and hoped for a room while we were travelling in Costa Rica, we had read about Macondo in the Lonely Planet. We were offered a room with A/C or non A/C and as the A/C one was brighter we took that. At $50 a night it was good value after the last place we had been... more
We travelled around Costa Rica and we stayed in many hotels along the way. In our experience Villas Macondo was the most clean and well mantained place we found at a midrange price. The rooms are clean (if you want to make sure there's no insects... don't go to Costa Rica!!!), and everything is well maintained (i.e.... everything works!) The... more
Villas Macondo can be great or terrible depending on what you're looking for. First of all, if you're looking for a relaxing, laid-back beach town, Tamarindo is not where you want to be. The beach isn't that pretty, you're constantly harrassed by vendors, and there are far too many tourists. In fact, at one point, I thought there were more... more
Just came back from a wonderful three week holiday. Besides La Fortuna, Nosara, Puerto Viejo I spent a few days in Tamarindo at Villas Macondo. Maybe the town is not everyone's cup of tea but Villas Macondo is such a gorgeous place. Friendly helpful stuff, a huge pool, clean rooms and you really notice that the owner paid great attention... more
First of all, don't stay in Tamarindo, unless you like swimming in an ocean full of sanitation waste and like being stalked by tourist predators. We were devastated with how awful Tamarindo was and left after one day to the nearby oasis of Playa Grande. Villas Macondos was cheap ($35/night), so if rate is the only important thing to you,... more
as this guest did not let us know, that he was not happy with his room, we do not have any record, what room they were talking about. We don't want our guests not to be satisfied and if there is anything we can do to make a guest happy, we will do it. Apparently the stay was during the...
