For my first time down in Playa Giuones, which was not only a beautiful place all on it own, Hotel Tropicana was the icing on the cake. Being a tiny bit further from the beach than all of the other 'surfer' hotels, it was nice to escape and relax between sessions. We had room #4, which was the furthest from... more

The hotel is very basic, good enough if you just want a bed and you are gonna spend your day doing activities. The hotel is very bland, the breakfast(included) is terrible, we tried it once and never went back. The hotel has no security at night!!! So do not try to dry your clothes outside as they will get nicked... more

A neighboring hotel was over booked, so for the first nite , was moved over to Tropicana. Went out to dinner and came back, everything of value was taken from the room,,,, over $1000 dollars worth. I guess this place is ok to stay at as long as you don't mind donating your valuables to theives. Door was locked, so... more

This should have been the highlight of the trip, but it wasn't. We were scheduled for the Hotel Tamarindo Dira, right on the beach. Last minute change by our tour agency, Grand Circle, put us across the street in the Hotel Tropicana - a disaster. I am not sure what I can really write about this place other than I... more

We stayed at the Tropicana for 3 nights. The rooms were not fancy, but affordable and clean. It was close to the beach and restaurants. There was some noise during the day due to construction nearby, but we didn't spend that much time in the room anyhow. Had no problems with the service or front desk, they were friendly enough,... more

It's looks pretty nice from the outside. However, it was a dirty, boring room with very uncomfortable beds. Hotel staff unfriendly and no one at pool or around hotel...EVER! You can hear everything from the main road and hotel neighbors (very loud all night). We only stayed one night and were happy to check out. more

I just returned from Tamarindo and stayed at The Tropicana for 4 nights. The hotel was nice, clean and very well kept. The rooms simple and the beds were not so great. The resturant and bar were not open the entire time we were there. We had to walk down the street to get everything, INCLUDING A CUP OF COFFEE.... more

Everything was great about this hotel. The airline lost my luggage, and I had my boyfriend's clothes to wear for two days, and the staff at the front talked to the local airline reps, and they delivered my luggage to the hotel, which is quite a drive from the San Jose international airport! The pool was lovely, but didn't swim... more

I was uncertain about this hotel before we ever left the states because I could not find any reveiws one way or another abouth the hotel. When I first saw the hotel, I was very satisfied. The grounds were very well kept and the staff was very friendly. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are smaller (no counter in... more
