It was truly an amazing experience to be on a ranch where the relationship between human and animal was so intertwined you could feel the positive connections. The Casita was perfect with all the right luxuries that you would want and won't get at a chain hotel. The breakfasts were amazing and if you still hungry afterwards you may have... More

I had heard about the ranch through a client of mine in Vancouver. She described it as her 'dream vacation' so naturally I had to look it up! I booked the next week on nothing but a whim and I could not be happier I did. This place changed my life and the way I view things. The horses are... More

Kay and the staff at the Painted Pony Guest Ranch were great. I planned a surprise engagement trip and ride and Kay was very helpful and flexible. She helped plan the perfect ride and even provided surprise champagne at the end with photos and video. The horses were great and the ride was fantastic. I definitely recommend them for any... More

It was a pleasure setting up your Proposal Beach Ride. Seeing the surprised look on her face and reaction was priceless. We are so happy it was what you had envisioned. We hope to see you back for your honeymoon. More

Prior to our trip to Costa Rica we researched options for a riding experience for our family, all pretty novice riders. The reviews of the Painted Pony ranch sounded perfect and we weren’t disappointed. Kay & Esteban took us on the ‘Taste of Guanacaste’ trail ride through ranches, back country trails and a small village where we stopped for a... More

The first riding experience for young riders and a novice riders is so important in building a good foundation for future rides. We provide an "introduction to the horses and riding" for beginners and those riders that need a quick refresher. Riding in small groups or families gives us the opportunity to provide individualized instruction on the trail. Many people... More

First of all I have to admit a bias here because I think That Esteban and Kay are two of the nicest people we have met during our travels, but I am not reviewing them. i am reviewing their beautiful Finca Casagua or Painted Pony Ranch. My family has stayed with Kay and Esteban three times and all three times... More

Thanks, thanks! You know that many folks that visit Costa Rica for more than 3 visits, soon become neighbors. We hope you consider Finca Casagua your home in Guanacaste and we look forward to your family staying with us again. And yes, the shower is a favorite! More

Loved every minute of staying here. The horses, the casita, the location, the pueblos, Kay, Mariano, the dogs! Wish we were there longer than 2 nights. We were able to experience some of the "real Costa Rica," and we will never forget it. Hope to visit again in the future!

We just spent four of the best days of our lives with Kay and Esteban, owners and operators of the Painted Pony Guest Ranch! We rode their wonderful horses, stayed in a very comfortable Casita and ate Kays wonderful home cooking! She even surprised my husband with homemade Mac N Cheese after she heard him say how much he loved... More

My family and I have been traveling toCR for 6 years now. The routine always leads to the beach, passing the small towns that make up the backbone of this beautiful country. That changed with out recent visit with Kay and estephan. They are the best!! They took us to hidden towns and were treated like a local. They gave... More

There is a world of rich Costa Rican culture and natural history just minutes off the tourist beaches. The friendly Guanacastecos welcome visitors with a smile and wave as we pass through the small villages on our riding tours. And of course, stopping at a family cantina for colds drinks and some of the best fried chicken in Guanacaste give... More

I can't even begin to say how incredible this ranch is. My mom and I came here for 3 days and wished we had booked a longer trip. Kay and Esteban went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and treated us like family. To begin with, Kay is an incredible cook and provided us with the most... More

It was a pleasure to have you and your mother join us too and look forward to your next visit. To work with Esteban on Natural Horsemanship brings our guests closer to understanding the language of the horse, and how special it is to "partner up" with these magnificent animals. Thank you for your kind comments, the ranch truly is... More
