Who ever gave a good review about this place clearly has not traveled much. Yeah it's pretty and calm and romantic....It's all just a front to hide all the problems this place has!! Besides the fact that my friends booked and when we got here they didn't find our reservations. Even with the confirmation number they couldn't find it. They... More

Summary - I would recommend this place for the right people with the right expectations. This experience is not for everyone. First the positive. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and it is very private and secluded. We are a family of 5 (three teenagers) and stayed there from the 15th through the 19th of July. Our villa was... More

This resort is really quite lovely. We loved all of the lush vegetation and smells of the flowers & herbs growing in the garden. The beach is great for walking & sunbathing, not great for swimming due to the volcanic rock. However, this feature was awesome at low tide- you could walk far out onto it and explore the tidal... The room itself is terrible. Bugs and lizards EVERYWHERE! There is nothing beneath the doors and they just get in so easy no matter how careful you are. We stayed in a villa and It was just not livable in. I could see empty villas with the door open with the green shirted workers just sitting there. Disgusting. The food... More

So many good things to say about Cala Luna! We stayed here for four nights during our honeymoon after spending time in La Fortuna. The hotel we stayed at in La Fortuna was ranked one of the best hotels in the world, so we assumed that Cala Luna would not be able to measure up and were ready for disappointment.... More

This is a great location. More on the romantic side, but still super nice. The ambiance is very mellow the service is phenomenal. It secluded, but still near enough the town of Tamarindo. The property is still very nice for a family and friends, but it is great for honeymoons or romantic getaways. The only small draw is the beach.... More

We booked Cala Luna for the beach portion of our honeymoon. Since we were staying in a value hotel in Arenal for the first half of our trip we figured we would splurge for the second/shorter half of our vacation. The decor of the hotel and rooms is very chic and modern, similar to what we're used to in the... More

My husband and I recently stayed at Cala Luna for a friend's wedding. It was amazing-- from the welcome drinks- to the staff - to the tub-- we loved everything about this place! The "Tor-tu-ga" quickly became my favorite cocktail! Our room was very close to the pool and walkway down the the beach. Our friends were married at a... More

We wanted a more intimate experience for our family than the large properties found along the Pacific coast in Costa Rica. Cala Luna was perfect. We had a family of 7 in the 3-bedroom villa. Some of us enjoyed the private pool, others, the elegant public pool. The beach was fantastic for shelling, lazing in the shallow water and exploring... More
