Tambor Tropical exceeded my expectations. I have stayed in many places in Costa Rica, as my husband is from there and this is one of the best places I have stayed. I loved how it was submersed in nature and how beautifully constructed the apartment/hotel rooms were. Everything was made of incredible wood and it gave it such a rustic... more

We booked all the units for our son's wedding weekend in January 2009. This resort worked with all our guests and tailored to our needs. The bar and restaurant was closed to the public, so we had this end of the road resort to ourselves. The food was fabulous, they decorated the resort with tropical flowers everywhere, we had bonfires,... more

We recently went to Costa Rica to look at real estate in the Tambor, Santa Theresa area, and decided to stay at the Tambor Tropical. It was such a beautiful spot, and so quiet and relaxing! The staff was great, always friendly, and it was great to come back to the tranquility of the hotel, after a long day of... more

Just amazing: great woodwork, charming staff and a beach that was nearly empty despite high season. The surf is gentle so it's just great to chill out. If you get tired of the hotel food, there is a fantastic Italian Restaurant on the main road that can be reached in about 5 - 10 mins walking time. Would go there... more

We will head to Tambor Tropical for our 7th time in a few weeks. There is not a more beautiful, quiet location to enjoy Costa Rica. It is a perfect escape for a couple that needs to recharge batteries. There are things to do and places to explore in the area, but if you are looking for quiet, there is... more

During my visit to Costa Rica...this was my best hotel ever!!! Location is not really great because it's far away from everything, but just come here to relax!!! The rooms are amazing. Soooooo big. Afterwards we really regret that our stay (only 2 nights) was so short. Only positive things about Tambor Tropical. 4 adults - Belgium more

A beautiful small resort in a small seaside town in Costa Rica. Nothing to do but relax and enjoy. The suites were emaculate and the staff wonderful. more

The suites are very spacious and the woodwork looks beautiful. Our suite faced the pool and the ocean and we enjoyed watching the sunrise from our bed. The gardens and landscaping was very lush and we had fresh flowers in our room each day. The beach is relatively sheltered so there is no surf and the sand is dark -... more

The Tambor Tropical is a very attractive 10 room hotel. The rooms are huge with really nice bathrooms. The pool is very nice and the bar is right there next to the pool. The problem is that the hotel is located on a bad beach strewn with wood and murky water. The only way to get to Tambor is by... more

We stayed at Tambor Tropcial in August for 3 days. The rooms are quite beautiful and the staff is very accomodating. Our problem was that we booked the rooms without realizing that there is no air conditioning. We had 2 rooms on the top and one room on the bottom floor. The first night was misery...the ceiling fans were not... more
