The lodge Las Ranas has a spectacular view. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast is served every morning. Each room has a fan, but I don't think there was AC. When we were there, the lodge had two guard dogs that are well-behaved. This lodge is about a 15-20 minute walking distance from the main strip in Samara. The lodge... More

This is such a wonderful oasis you could just stay here if there wasn't that wonderful beach to go to, or excursions around Samara to enjoy! The rooms are a good size, with comfortable beds, good air conditioning. They are very nicely decorated. The bathrooms have a good quality and every room has a balcony with an absolutely spectacular view.... More

We have property in the mountains above Samara, and have tried almost every hotel in Samara and Carrillo. Lodge Las Ranas is by far our favorite. I am writing this review from my peaceful deck overlooking the pacific ocean and listening to howler monkeys call. We saw Toucans in the tree by the pool yesterday taking a bath. Samara is... More

The wife and I decided to do a beach tour of the Tamarindo area and visited several beaches. Many of the roads are terrible and we had to cross a river between Nosara and Samara. The nicest thing about our trip though was this wonderful little lodge Las Ranas that is on the top of a hill close to Samara... More

And when you reach the top of this scary one lane drive you find pretty villas, an attractive outdoor reception & dining area and an inviting pool. Monkeys had arrived to make our checking in even more interesting. Our room was one of 4 in a small villa. Attractive walkways leading to the rooms with a interesting forest behind in... More

We arrived from Liberia airport late in the evening, everything was waiting for us. The owner, Canadian Albertan makes you feel you are home in the family. All are ten rooms, on the top of a hill in the forest. We were visited by monkeys and saw wonderful variety of birds. Samara beach is 2-3 km from the hotel, best... More

This is so past due that I feel horrible, but I think I saved the best for last. We traveled around Costa Rica for almost three weeks and this was by far one of my favorite hotels. The family that owns LLR is incredibly nice and beyond helpful even giving us a ride to town when a taxi wasn't available.... More

We stayed here the night before we flew out of Liberia - clean run from there to the airport. We booked at the last moment (through TripAdvisor.) Service was wonderful: greeted warmly upon arrival, everything explained, breakfast served quickly in the morning. The room, pool and hotel grounds were impeccable. The property is on the top of a hill to... More

We stayed at Lodge Las Ranas from Jan. 18- Jan. 23, 2014 and we had a great stay. Shelley and Cody who run the place are very helpful and really nice. They suggested things for us to check out and try in the area and we were not disappointed. The attention to detail at the hotel is great too. It's... More
