This is the closest I came to a luxury hotel in Costa Rica, and it was at a budget price. The hotel was kept immaculate. The rooms have a nice ventilation, the showers have warm water, and the beds were comfortable. The grounds are serene, with plants and hammocks galore. The owners and staff were friendly as well. This lodge... more

The Tico Adventure Lodge was a perfect fit for us. We knew we wanted to stay in or near Samara, wanted something clean and comfortable, but not too expensive - and this was perfect. We stayed in the Tree Top Apartment and just loved it. Our group consisted of two couples, so the two bedroom apartment with a kitchen worked... more

Comfortable decent sized room with a great small pool right outside. There are some ants on the bed from time to time but I think that just happens in the tropics. There’s a beautiful garden with a grill free for the guests to use – don’t try to cook chicken on it at night though because it would be hard... more

Set in amongst a tropical garden, we took one of the first floor rooms with a balcony for a few days. The immediate surroundings are idyllic, and its location, just three blocks from the (hottest) beach (ever), perfect. The room was pretty basic, certainly more so then the other comparable places we had visited, but it was not a problem.... more

What a beautiful setting - nestled amongst the trees - a small piece of paradice. The rooms are basic, but adequate enough, but the hammocks swinging outside the window, the fusion of natural surroundings and a great little pool for those warm days set the tone perfectly. The 'town' itself, is a mere couple of minutes walk away with some... more

My wife and I stayed one night in an air conditioned room with private bath and then two family members met us and we stayed an additional five nights in the treehouse apartment. Beautiful teke wood everywhere, comfy hammocks, air conditioning, mosquito nets when needed, howler monkeys hanging in the trees across the road, parrot squadrons flying by, a great... more

We stayed five days at the tree top apart. with our little boy. We loved the apartment. The architecture is very much tropical and a beautiful change from box-like hotels. The tree top has a huge terrace to enjoy morning birds and late drinks. The lodge is 2 minutes from the beach and restaurants. The staff is OK and Chris... more

Wow, It's weird to read these negative reviews of this place. I just got back, and I (we) had a great stay here. This place is right in the center of town, just a short walk to the beach and resteraunts, yet when you're here, you feel like your miles away from anything. (there are a few rooms near the... more

Recently stayed here for a few nights. I'll give you the pros and cons- pros - if you surf, they have rentals and tips -little pool with a rope swing that kids enjoy -tropical feel cons -showers with barely warm water -lots of ants around (found a bunch in my bed the first night) -some rooms without a/c -no breakfast,... more

I wouldn't stay here again. The owner, Chris is a not so friendly "dude" who is anything but inviting. The place is clean, the staff seems to be alright but the morning, evening and afternoon face you see is the not so happy, chain smoking Mr Chris himself. Make sure to NOT book in advance on the slower months- you... more
