An awesome place, very private and intimate. Lioba is an excellent manager, arranging trips at the last minute and giving us tips as to how to navigate Playa Grande and Tamarindo - priceless info!!!! Although the wi fi was a bit spotty, we would not have traded that for our beautiful room at the end of the property. Great breakfast... More

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Playa Grande and stayed at Hotel Cantarana. I cannot say enough about great our trip was. When we arrived the staff had arranged flowers in our room and made us feel right at home. The hotel is exactly what we wanted, the staff was incredible and helped us arrange everything we wanted... Just returned from a 4 night stay at Hotel Cantarana and my wife and I hope that it will not be our last. The small hotel of only 5 rooms possesses the three C's (cozy, colorful, and calm) that made the last few days of vacation everything we desired. The well manicured grounds and pool area complimented our comfortable accommodations.... More

Though it wasn't really our intention, this was one of the quietest and most relaxing places we've ever stayed. We stayed for three nights at the start of low season and had the entire place to ourselves! This, coupled with the fact that the hotel is actually in an extremely quiet little gated community quite removed from anything else, made... More

I stayed there for a couple of nights and had a great time. The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms was clean and the pool was nice. The food was delicious. If you want to go to tamarindo and don't want to drive 40 minutes. You go to the beach and take a boat that charges 1USD and... More

Our group of four adults stayed at Hotel Cantarana in March, 2014 for five nights. It was the perfect choice for us for this area. We didn't want the crowds and bustle of Tamarindo, so chose Playa Grande instead. So glad we did. The beach is beautiful and just one block from Cantarana along a quiet path. Very empty, soft... My boyfriend and I stayed here in March 2014 and had a spectacular experience. We just left one day ago, but loved the place so much I wanted to write our review now and I already want to go back! The location is fantastically quiet and relaxing, with a pretty pool and gorgeous gardens, but still very near (within a... More

I stayed here with my girlfriend in February of 2014. It made for the perfect, quiet and fun beach vacation. The hotel is a very relaxing place to spend time -either pool side or on a room patio (all of the rooms have outdoor patio spaces). There aren't very many units so it doesn't get busy, the garden is beautiful... More

Stayed 3 nights in January to see the turtles. The hotel is in a great setting close to beach in a small private development built in the woods. Although not close to Playa Grande it is in a really nice quiet setting with other hotels and restaurants close by . The rooms are of midsize with comfortable beds and excellent... More
