We didn't plan on going to Playa Grande, but we are so glad we did. We had planned on staying the whole week in Tamarindo, and didn't really like it. We met a very nice older couple having dinner and they reccomened Playa Grande and the Ripjack Inn. I checked my Frommers travel guide for the phone number and to... more

Food is great. Staff is friendly. We make it a point to have dinner there. Gregory is always helpful. Dave, Annie, and little Maggie are really cool people. I enjoy surfing with Dave. more

Great beach access! The pool is now open, and several hammocks near the outdoor shower. Yoga is offered a couple mornings a week. The staff were very helpful and accomodating. Rooms were simple/modern and clean, but could use some upgrades to the bathrooms and matresses. There is little room to store your suitcases. Restaurant service is very personable but Costa... more

The absolute perfect place for anyone to go for vacation. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and well maintained. The restaurant offers a wide selection of excellent food and drinks at a very fair price. Try the calamari for sure! It's in a prime location; close enough to Tamarindo for day trips, dinner or... more

This place is great. The staff is super friendly and very helpful with coordinating activities (surfing, fishing, sailing, snorkeling, etc. ) and giving recommendations for other places to visit in Costa Rica. Almost all of them speak English and are very patient and encouraging when you try out your Spanish on them (mine is pretty bad). It is located right... more

It was out 10th wedding anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere neither of us had gone before. I like to surf and my wife loves the beach. The drive (in our rental car) to the hotel from the Arenal was quite an adventure. You would never have known anything could be out there and then all of a sudden... more

We spent 5 days at Rip Jack in September of 2007. We had a great time, it is located right next to a wonderful spot on the beach. The staff is helpful and hooked us up with a bunch of great activities/tours. [We highly recommend Jacamar Tours, our guide was Rusby Gusman, we highly recommend you request him, as our... more

Playa Grande and the Rip Jack Inn were the last stop on our 21 day trip to Costa Rica. We couldn't have picked a better location and hotel. Playa Grande is just past Tamarindo but is a world apart. The beach is pristine and beautiful and you can walk for miles. The hotel was so much more than we expected.... more

The RipJack was a great experience. It was exactly what we were looking for in location, accomodations, food, and friendliness. It's about 50 steps to the sand and the view is amazing. Our room was clean, spacious, and had all the comforts of home as well as quiet. The food in the restaurant is delicious! Gregory took care of our... more
