I stayed for 4 nights. Close to the beach. The surf instructors and staff were so helpful and friendly. It was a one stop shop for me. Rooms, surf lesson, rentals, breakfast and lunch. Store and little restaurant just around the corner. Just a simple, fun, inexpensive way of staying in a little peace of heaven.

What a hidden gem I discovered at the Playa Grande Surf Camp Hostel! This is one of the most upscale hostel I've encountered in Costa Rica with rooms for all types. And the location is ideal. Situated in a beachside community called Palm Beach Estates, 2 minute walk to the surf, and 7 minute walk to the local market/restaurant/bar (which... More

We stayed at PGSC for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay. Bathrooms were kept clean and the cabin was perfect for us. Helpful and friendly owners/staff. Nothing negative to say about the accommodation however Playa Grande its self didn’t live up to my expectations. Not a great deal to do after sunset, limited on restaurants and bars. Be warned...if you... More

We staid 2 nights in the hotel and we never go back again. The rooms are smalls, like the windows (you can't open it !). When it's sunny it's very hot inside ! and the AC is very noisy (every one can ear it) and dirty (3 months of dust maybe more). After 10min it's too cold inside so you... More

I travelled to Costa Rica for a 5 week surfing, yoga and diving holiday and started my journey at PGSC. I was greeted at midnight by Gerry, the owner of the surf camp, with a big welcoming smile on his face. He put me up in his house so as not to wake other people staying in my cabina that... More

Both stays at PGSC were out of this world. If you want to get away to a private setting with beautiful beaches steps from ur cabina this is the spot. Gerry g( owner) was an amazing host and made sure our every need was met. Not an easy job considering it was eight college boys! Will be returning very soon... More

Keep your expectations low. I'll start with the only positive I have. While the cabinas were very small and very minimal, the AC worked wonderfully, which is very needed. Be prepared to drive on some pretty bumpy roads with gnarly washboards. Maybe we caught them during a bad time (which I can't understand because there were only a few other... More

Amazing little piece of paradise! This is my second trip here. First was with a girlfriend, had a great time. Amazing host, chill atmosphere, quiet beach, good waves. Just a walk along the beach from the party town of Tamarindo. Booked a week at PG Surf camp and a week in Tamarindo and ended up cancelling The Tamarindo reservation because... More
