This hotel has a nice location and a rather OK staff. The rooms are really funny: small, basic one bed room with shower and toilet. Prices are unbeatable, I guess. The beds however are in a bed condition and it is pretty loud. Overall, I was broken the next morning, so not the best place for a good rest.

Pro: I enjoy me stay there at Guanacaste Hotel. It was convenient to the local bus station for going to other place in Costa Rica or for going in Nicaragua. The room was a bit tiny but for 12$ a night I think it was pretty decent price. Cons: there not place for cooking or to put you meal in... More

If you're looking for a place where they blast karaoke till 1230 am to keep you from sleeping, unsanitary rooms, add on fees for a person visit your room ect. then this is your lucky day! The indifferent front desk staff happlessly address your concerns and or complaints and offer little to no insight into travel within the region. Hostel... More

Do not stay here unless you have to. We stayed one night in order to catch an early bus in the morning. Cheap prices and good location (as in close to buses). The rooms are very very small and the mattresses are very uncomfortable. But it served the purpose of a bed to sleep in for the night.

This place is really shabby. Only bother with it if there is no other choice and you need to get the bus for the border which stops directly outside. Other hotels in town cost the same, including breakfast and are far superior we discovered too late. I'm really surprised this place is YHA accredited.

We ended up staying here for one night, after spending nine days in Nicaragua, but needing somewhere to crash for the night before our flight out of Liberia. The rooms are cramped and definitely have seen waaaaay better days (peeling paint, damp floors/walls). The mattress needs to be replaced. However, there was a good cross-breeze with the fan at night;... More

Spartan rooms (I've tried single room), REALLY loud loud air-con and nice, but little chaotic staff. But it's really close to both city center and both bus stations. Restaurant is small, but ok and not overpriced.

This hostel was terrible. There weren't many budget options available in Liberia, and I only wanted a quick stopover to see Rincon de la Vieja. I arrived in the afternoon and after settling into the room, I realized that there were bed bugs literally crawling ALL OVER the bed. I showed the staff and was moved to a different room.... More

Nothing special here but for $12 I got my own room with bathroom. Looked a bit depressing but I still has a good nights sleep there. I stayed on a saturday so there was kareoke but that all packs up at 12 so I didnt really mind.

For $11 I got a room with a private bathroom a 2-minute walk from the bus depot for my 5am ride to San Jose. It's also 2 blocks from the Maxi-Pali so you needn't even splurge for a restaurant meal. This is no Ritz-Carlton. Rooms are Spartan and the mattresses could use replacing, but the property is very secure, the... More
