We stayed three nights at La Mansion and loved every minute. The property is ideally situated overlooking Lake Arenal and boosted some of the most beautiful, lush landscaping I've ever seen. Each air conditioned, luxurious "room" is actually an independent Spanish Colonial style house/bungalow with lovely patios with views of the lake. The interiors are richly decorated with murals, Spanish... more

My husband and I drove by this hotel while on our way to check- into Tabacon Hotel (uggh) (see review - very disappointed and overpriced Tabacon was!) We were mentioning that THIS (La Mansion) was the type of place that we wished we had booked instead. ... just by its looks alone - we gasped at its beauty while driving... more

I give La Mansion 3 stars as a compromise- my wife would give it one star, I give it four. I thought that the hotel was a great value- it was $195 for a deluxe room, and when we stayed they had a promotion that if you stayed 3 nights the fourth night is free AND breakfast and dinner are... more

I found the rooms generally clean, beautiful views of the lake, fine dining menu and helpful information about local activities. Service generally good, although the TV in my room and jacuzzi/hot tub was not working on my visit. The draw back is the location, it maybe take 40mins to drive to La fortuna, howvever with a car it is not... more

We stayed at La Mansion Arenal for 3 nights in cottage 11, which was amply spacious for our family of 5. The cottage had a queen bed in 1 room, and 2 doubles plus a daybed in the other. The view towards Lake Arenal and the volcano from the patio was spectacular. We really enjoyed the pool and hot bath,... more

We had an enjoyable stay at La Mansion during Thanksgiving week. Our two bedroom cottage worked out very well for my wife and I and our teenage daughter. La Mansion is a unique and charming Country Inn in an ideal setting overlooking Lake Arenal. Our cottage (number 4) overlooked the lake and from our comfortable porch, we could watch a... more

I struggle to understand many of the reviews for this place. I feel we must have stayed somewhere else!! It is very quiet (and I say that in a positive way) with delightful views over the lake. But note you are over 20km from the volcano and cannot see it from the hotel, so no nice views of a glowing... more

My wife and I went here on our Honeymoon, and it was the nicest of the 4 hotels that we stayed in Costa Rica (and that includes the $400/night 5 star hotel we stayed at). We were virtually all alone, and enjoyed the HUGE jacuzzi and infinity pool all to ourselves. Also, the room was great and very private. There... more

Stayed at La Mansion in July 2007. Stunning location, great views. The room was excellent, not your typical hotel room. Ate in the restaurant most evenings, food was very good. Great choice of beers! Highlight of our stay was the trip to Selva Leona (only bookable through La Mansion). Horse riding, walking in the rain forest and BBQ. Local people,... more

La Mansion was our second stop on the Costa Rica and was a perfect stepping stone between a murky English spring, the cool of the Cloud Forest and the sweltering heat of Manuel Antonio. Fabulous setting, but as others have said a long, long way from everything so if, like us, you haven't hired a car it will cost you... more
