Love this place. Awesome setting, awesome birds, awesome staff, awesome food. We were lucky as we had the place to ourselves and personal attention but this was the best place we stayed in Costa Rica. And we saw Snowcap within minutes of arriving!

The first thing I will say is Meghan Edwards who is currently a volunteer is an amazing young lady who is a true asset to Rancho Naturalista. She is so accommodating and knows her birds. We did not get a chance to meet Lisa as she was out of town with family but you know she makes sure everything runs... More

We enjoyed our stay at Rancho greatly. Lisa is a wonderful host, and Meghan Edwards, the volunteer currently there, is a real winner. The rain was dampening, but we still saw a lot and got a lot of great photos. It's good that you have that covered balcony with all the feeders, as that produces a wonderful situation for birders... Rancho Naturalista's staff will treat you like family. I loved my room that opened onto a balcony swarming with hummingbirds as well as a view of the valley. The food, served family style, was fantastic. I loved meeting other guests at meal times around the family table. A great place for birders and naturalists or anyone who just wants to... More

We do feel like our guests are family here at Rancho Naturalista! We are happy that you loved your room with its view, and the balcony swarming with hummingbirds. We plan to update our free Wifi service as soon as something better becomes available, but for now it is just in the main lodge. Thank you for the wonderful review! More

Not only is Rancho Naturalista set in the most beautiful location with lots of birds, insects & other wildlife not found in other regions of Costa Rica, but staying there was a real treat. The staff are so hospitable, the food is incredible & there's a real sense of camaraderie. We all sat around each evening discussing the day &... More

I spent six fantastic days and nights here. If you like bird or general nature watching, good food and nice people this is place is a must. And if you happen to travel alone but still like some human contact now and again, the family style meals makes it very easy to get in contact with the other guests. My... More

Rancho has been improved greatly by the new management team. And it still has the family feeling that has made this a great destination for years. Superb birding, amazing views, great food, warm welcomes - what more could you want? Whether hiking the trails or relaxing while watching the feeders, you can't go wrong.

We stayed one night at Rancho Naturalista as part of a birdwatching trip with Massachusetts Audubon. I wish we would have been able to spend another day, but we had an ambitious 10 day itinerary. However, our time at Rancho was well spent. Watching hummingbirds bathe at sunset in a series of pools was a trip highlight. We took a... More
