Warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, the family that own and run this finca are very dedicated to the concept of a coffee farm that is environmentally sustainable. We stayed in the guesthouse with two lovely rooms (separated by a dividing wall, which gave my teenage daughter some privacy!) and one (large) bath. There is a small kitchen... More

We didn't stay at Finca Monte Claro, we only went out for the morning for a horseback ride. Both my mom and I loved it! It was only us and our guide Jorge. Jorge was extremely knowledgable about the farm, the birds, insects, trees and crops. The horses were wonderful, very well behaved and well taken care of. We spent... More

The promise of sleeping out in the bosque won out. All the TripAdvisor reviews were impressive, so we booked 2 nights. We ended up leaving after the first night because we just were not comfortable with the ants crawling all over the toilet. The path of leaf cutter ants running next to the kitchen is something we've seen, so not... More

Dear Jeff, We are sorry to hear that your night here in finca Monteclaro wasn’t what you where expecting. We did have a problem with the water system, it’s sometimes a bit hard to fix because it comes all the way from the river, its more than 1,200 meters of water pipes. It has been fixed. Here at the finca... More

I believed the previous reviews and booked two nights at this place. But we only spent one night at Finca Monteclaro and left running. In one evening there (as two conservative people) we ran out of drinking water and toilet/washing water (kept in separate tanks). In the morning we couldn't flush the toilet, wash our faces or drink. The cooking... More

Dear Star We are sorry to hear that your night here in finca Monteclaro wasn’t what you where expecting, we did have a problem with the water the day you arrived and we did everything we could to fix it in the morning, sadly we couldn’t before you left. It’s been fixed; we even bettered the reserve water system to... More

This trip was one of the best thing we've done during our time in Costa Rica. The owner is super kind. He speak french, english and spanish so it's easy to understand him. We done horse riding, a coffee tour and rafting. The food was really good. The room was outdoor. We only had a roof over our head and... More

My husband, sister, and I visited Finca Moteclara for a horseback tour of the farm followed by canyoning. Christian is an excellent guide as he is very friendly. We learned a lot about growing organic coffee, and agriculture in Costa Rica in general. We had an amazing snack consisting of local fruits midway through the ride. Lunch was prepared by... More

Our stay at Finca Monte Claro was great! Sleeping in the Mezzanine resembles camping, except that beds, mosquito nets, a small kitchen, shower and toilet are all provided. The deck on which you sleep has a roof, so shelter is provided if it happens to rain. We went for a hike on the farm lands, lounged on the deck during... More

Finca Monte Claro was beyond fabulous. We so enjoyed our stay in the Mezzanine that we hope to be able to return some day. This isn't your average tourist experience which makes it all the better. The farm is a real working farm, growing many, many acres of coffee and sugar cane and with ambitious and admirable plans to transition... More

Finca Monte Claro is a great way to experience Costa Rica on a real working farm! The property is on a large expanse of hills with excellent views of volcanoes and the picturesque town of Turrialba in the valley below. I took my wife and kids (ages 7 and 11) for 3 days and two nights. We really enjoyed sleeping... More
