A charming place where I stayed for four nights when working with Habitat for Humanity. The service was outstanding, the rooms very clean, and the food was excellent. Someone in our group was a vegetarian and they remembered to accommodate her at every dinner. I stayed in the main house but you could also stay in one of the cabins.... More

First of all, the setting is magnificent. 5 minutes outside of Cartago on the main road to Irazu Volcano. Magnificent views...when it's not raining! We stayed in the large room in the back of the main house. It was like a college dorm room with carpet and a bunch of beds but it worked for our family of 5. Hot... More

A lovely place to end our whirlwind first visit to Costa Rica. Staff were wonderful! The cabin we stayed in (#6) was clean and cozy. Looking out onto a field, we were able to leave our curtains open. The breakfasts were fine (don't be disappointed if the sausage and ham turns out to be half a hot dog and a... More

We spent three nights at Grandpa's. Spacious and comfortable room off dining area. Hotel in great location to explore this area of Costa Rica. Friendly and very helpful staff. Good breakfast and beautiful views.

We just spent the night at Grandpa's Hotel and it was great! The cabin (#10) and bathroom were very spacious and clean, it had two double beds, comfy mattress and soft pillows. They give you towels and soap, and a lot of blankets. Breakfast is included, it was ok, my pancakes were not fully cooked, but they have several options,... More

My family and I stayed at grandpa's it was delightful. We had a small cosy cabin which fit perfectly to this place. Waking up with the stunning view to the town and mountain is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. You can't ask more for a b&b hotel ;)

I recently stayed at Grandpas Hotel while attending a conference at the Cartago campus of Institute Tecnológico de Costa Rica. To my surprise, I was the only one who stayed here. The rest of the attendees chose to stay in San José and commute daily. In my opinion, this was because they did not know how pleasant and homey their... More

Absolutely wonderful and charming, surrounded by great walking paths, beautiful natural scenery, with an old farm-town feel. The rooms were great, oversized and clean with charming fireplaces. Terrific hotel staff; friendly and prompt service. Excellent, authentic meals. We would highly recommend this hotel and also their personal attention to details is without comparison - incredible! Special thank you to Gustavo,... More

Stayed for one night here so that we could visit Irazu Volcano before going back home. While the area is beautiful and the volcano is amazing, the cleanliness of the cottage we had was less than desirable. At first glance, it seemed fine. But it wasn't long before the giant roaches came out. They were on our things in no... More

The place is clean, cabins are not fancy or large but nice view. Close to the road however and the neighbor is a kind of grains transformation company. Easy place to find and very close to Irazu. Breakfast are included. Ok not more. Staff is friendly.
