My family and I stayed at grandpa's it was delightful. We had a small cosy cabin which fit perfectly to this place. Waking up with the stunning view to the town and mountain is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. You can't ask more for a b&b hotel ;)

I recently stayed at Grandpas Hotel while attending a conference at the Cartago campus of Institute Tecnológico de Costa Rica. To my surprise, I was the only one who stayed here. The rest of the attendees chose to stay in San José and commute daily. In my opinion, this was because they did not know how pleasant and homey their... More

Absolutely wonderful and charming, surrounded by great walking paths, beautiful natural scenery, with an old farm-town feel. The rooms were great, oversized and clean with charming fireplaces. Terrific hotel staff; friendly and prompt service. Excellent, authentic meals. We would highly recommend this hotel and also their personal attention to details is without comparison - incredible! Special thank you to Gustavo,... More

Stayed for one night here so that we could visit Irazu Volcano before going back home. While the area is beautiful and the volcano is amazing, the cleanliness of the cottage we had was less than desirable. At first glance, it seemed fine. But it wasn't long before the giant roaches came out. They were on our things in no... More

The place is clean, cabins are not fancy or large but nice view. Close to the road however and the neighbor is a kind of grains transformation company. Easy place to find and very close to Irazu. Breakfast are included. Ok not more. Staff is friendly.

Things went very well at Grandpa's Hotel. The cottage was first rate and the hospitality was beyond measure. Edgar has to be the best host for breakfast in the world. He was always ready to start our day with some great food at breakfast. We ate dinner at the hotel one night and it was top rate as well. The... More

It was a nice experience to get to Grandpas hotel! after our wedding. The lodge had flowers everywhere and a heart made with petals in the bed. The place is very quiet and romantic. I will choose grandpa's once again to rest for a weekend . The service is professional, they left us a bottle of cold white wine. We... More

We chose this hotel based on the good reviews and proximity to Vulcan Irazu. As far as a place to stay that is close to the volcano, I'm not sure you could ask for better. The hotel is also very easy to find - it's just one turn off the main road leading to Irazu. We stayed in a cabin,... More

First off, I had a great sleep in one of the very clean cabins (cabin 9). The views alone as you sit outside are worth staying here, but I think if you are rated the number one hotel in Cartago, you need to hold your hotel to a higher standard. My wife and I were told breakfast was included, but... More

Love this hotel. The staff are so gracious and helpful. They are very observant and watch you so if you order hot chocolate one day, they automatically bring it to you the next day. Always ready to help with whatever you need to make your stay awesome. It's not Hyatt Place or the Marriott - it is a place where... More
