My husband and I just returned from our 3-week honeymoon in Costa Rica and Poas was our very first stop, after picking up our rental car at the airport. We stayed in the delightful lodge for 2 nights, in a garden room situated directly on the slope of the mountain, with the most beautiful view of the lush greenery and... More

We spent 3 nights at Poas and loved it. The setting was beautiful, the house architecturally interesting and the extra touches such as the boot room and the nightly hot water bottles made it a special stay. The trails around the lodge and dairy farm were a good way to see the views and catch some birdlife. We weren't expecting... More

Spent 2 nights in the Tanager Room and had dinner both nights at the Lodge. Very few options in the area - this is an exceptional choice. You will meet the owner and his family - it's like staying at his country estate in many ways. Not an inexpensive option (roughly $600 for 2 nights, 2 dinners, and 2 breakfasts... More

I stayed here with my daughter for two nights. We drove all the way from Manuel Antonio and didn't arrive until well after dark. The drive up into the mountains at night can be a bit intimidating. Add rain and dense fog and it's down right treacherous. If you can, try to drive up in daylight. Once we finally found... More

My wife and I stayed at Poas Volcano Lodge for 3 nights. It's a working farm in the middle of nowhere. Think Cows. Our room #10 was rustic and very quaint. The room was on the smaller side, but not too small. The walls were half dark wood and light painted cinder block. The bathroom was nice and large. The... More

Without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the best places to stay in Costa Rica. Service and location were phenomenal, and despite the bad weather, we still had an excellent time at the local attractions. I'd happily recommend it to anyone in the region and wish we could have stayed longer.

Poas Volcano Lodge was a last minute booking for us, and we are so pleased that we were able to stay here. We were upgraded to a master suite which had a king bed and gorgeous shower with a view of the garden. Fresh strawberries were placed in our room. The hotel features natural wood throughout including a large tree... More

We were so surprised when we drove up. The view was absolutely beautiful. It is a small hotel but reminds me of a beautiful home. Be sure and bring your coats it is cold here. I would certainly come back and stay here. Marla from Texas

This is a wonderful hotel with outstanding service and amazing views. It is like you're staying at the home of a good friend who really cares about you and wants to please you. There are beautiful flowers placed all around and local strawberries in the room. We asked for a few more strawberries and they brought us an entire box!... More

This is a terrific Lodge for those looking for a reprieve from the more expensive touristy Peace Lodge, this is a European Style Lodge with common areas for lounging, restaurant and TV Game room. There is no pool here or concierge desk vast lobby etc but we found that refreshing and fun. The decor is terrific the rooms are modern... More
