We only stayed here for 1 night but it was so lovely and the people were fantastic. The night we stayed (early Dec) was rainy but they had umbrellas available everywhere and it was lovely to warm up by the wood fire. We stayed in one of the garden rooms with 2 beds (Heliconia I think) and it was great... More

Really had no idea what to expect. The service, rooms, and food were very good. We had the hummingbird room that is in the lodge and thought it met our needs very well. Clean and comfortable. Has a wonderful view of the volcano. We liked the hot water bottle that was put in our room at night. Nice little touch.... More

I wish my house looked like this. Stunning design and use of wood throughout. Excellent, friendly customer service. Extremely comfortable bed and huge room / bathroom. Good view of the volcano, weather permitting. Games room and nice wood burner in lounge: very welcome given it was rather chilly. Down a longish track off the main road, so try to get there... More

Poas Volcano Lodge has a history of vision, pride and endurance. Build near Vara Blanca at nearly 2000 m altitude as a private property back in the seventies (when there was not even a road up here) was than opened to public as lodge to unfortunately be almost completely damaged by the january 2008 earthquake. The lodge was however rebuilt... More

My husband and I just returned from our 3-week honeymoon in Costa Rica and Poas was our very first stop, after picking up our rental car at the airport. We stayed in the delightful lodge for 2 nights, in a garden room situated directly on the slope of the mountain, with the most beautiful view of the lush greenery and... More

We spent 3 nights at Poas and loved it. The setting was beautiful, the house architecturally interesting and the extra touches such as the boot room and the nightly hot water bottles made it a special stay. The trails around the lodge and dairy farm were a good way to see the views and catch some birdlife. We weren't expecting... More

Spent 2 nights in the Tanager Room and had dinner both nights at the Lodge. Very few options in the area - this is an exceptional choice. You will meet the owner and his family - it's like staying at his country estate in many ways. Not an inexpensive option (roughly $600 for 2 nights, 2 dinners, and 2 breakfasts... More

I stayed here with my daughter for two nights. We drove all the way from Manuel Antonio and didn't arrive until well after dark. The drive up into the mountains at night can be a bit intimidating. Add rain and dense fog and it's down right treacherous. If you can, try to drive up in daylight. Once we finally found... More

My wife and I stayed at Poas Volcano Lodge for 3 nights. It's a working farm in the middle of nowhere. Think Cows. Our room #10 was rustic and very quaint. The room was on the smaller side, but not too small. The walls were half dark wood and light painted cinder block. The bathroom was nice and large. The... More

Without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the best places to stay in Costa Rica. Service and location were phenomenal, and despite the bad weather, we still had an excellent time at the local attractions. I'd happily recommend it to anyone in the region and wish we could have stayed longer.
