I would love to have stayed at this hotel before the earthquake. It must have really been amazing. As it stands, it is very nice, but they are still working to bring the hotel back to its former self. Our room was comfortable, clean and had a beautiful bathroom with hot water. There is a tea/coffee pot in the room,... more

We spent our first 2 nights in the Poas Volcano Lodge, we were well aware they sustained serious earthquake damage in January but still wanted to check out the Vera Blanca/Poas area. Upon our arrival we were met by Michael the cheery expat Brit owner who has worked the dairy farm there for almost 40 years. We stayed in a... more

We found the Volcano Lodge on the internet. It had severe damage from the Jan. 09 earthquake so we weren't sure what we would be facing. To our surprise they were struggling but doing just fine. Their business was up and running with a lot of effort and care by their staff due to the fact that the main and... more

We stayed in the main lodge itself in the “Master Suite.” The room is right off of the gameroom and appears to be an addition to the house. Most likely was used as the master bedroom at one point. The room was VERY large, but VERY cold, with no central heat. It had a small portable floor heater but really... more

We stayed at Poas one night for the intent of going to see the Poas Volcano. The lodge is a very rustic but nice lodge. The lodge itself is pretty funky - summer camp meets working farm. The people were pleasant and we enjoyed our short stay there. The room we stayed in was very rustic and small. A bit... more

Well we decided to stay at the Poas Lodge on our last night in Costa Rica and we wanted to see the Poas volcano. The terrible weather spoiled our last night but this is not the only reason for having "mixed feelings" We arrived under torrential downpour and decided to take the master suite inside the main building to avoid... more

Poas Volcano Lodge was highly recommended to us by friends who had visited previously. Overall, our stay was delightful. The area is lovely--Poas Park is dramatic, La Paz is magnificent and so entertaining for children, and the nearby trout-fishing was also really fun for younger kids. We booked 2 rooms, side-by-side in the building detached from the main residence. The... more

We enjoyed our stay at the Poas Volcano Lodge--it was unlike any of the other hotels we experienced in Costa Rica. It felt more like an English B&B than a Costa Rican lodge, especially after coming directly from the Arenal region. But it's a lovely lodge in a gorgeous setting and a great home base for trips to the Poas... more

My husband and I just returned from a 9 day trip to Costa Rica. What a beautiful country!! We wanted to see the Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfalls, but didnt want to pay a fortune our first night in CR. I found the Poas Lodge on trip advisor from other reviews written. It was so cool! Its has a... more

The location of this lodge is excellent, the cabins are simple but comfortable even for a family of four. The lodge itself is cosy - it is quite like an English farmhouse and well equipped with games, books and activities for the chilly damp evenings. The evening meal was good but a bit expensive - there are other places nearby... more
