Thank you Jimmie and Stephan for making the start of our trip wonderful! These two brothers make the best hosts. In summary - great view, great food, comfy rooms. Great place to stay. These guys are great - they take great care to look after their guests. Dinner is cooked by Stephan, to order, using locally sourced ingredients. Big portions.... More

We stayed here for just 1 night and wish it could have been longer. Jimmy and Stephan were the best hosts we could have hoped for. Relaxed atmosphere, small lodge (just 5 rooms) great common area. Stephan is a wonderful cook! Nothing like chili made by a Texan on a cool night. All the food is locally grown. It was... More

Perfectly located only 4km from the park entrance, Poas Lodge sits at 7100 ft and provides the most amazing views. Hosts Jimmie and Stephan are very welcoming and helpful. Staying here is more like staying with friends than in a hotel. Sitting around the log fire in the evening was wonderful and whenever possible, Jimmie would come and talk to... More

When we arrived at Poas Lodge we didn't think we were in the correct place as the small entrance area is perched on the top of the hill on the side of the road to Volcan Poas but once inside, we were greeted by the the very friendly and helpful owners and realized the rooms are below the restaurant/bar. The... More

We stayed at the Lodge for one night in mid-February. The owners are very friendly, helpful and laid back - their approach to running the hotel seems to be more as a life-style choice than as a money making business. There are pluses and minuses to this: on the one hand, the place is very relaxed; on the other, a... More

Poas lodge is more of a tico lodge. Not fancy, but functional. We only had breakfast at the lodge as the restaurant was closed for dinner. Bring some warm clothes as the elevation is approx. 2200 m and heating is basically nothing in the rooms. The oldest of the two brothers was an excellent host and provided some great insight... We stopped here last year on our way up to view the Poas Volcano (which we didn't see because of cloud cover - it is a hit and miss situation). On our return, my sister decided that we should stay at the Lodge to get the full experience. The dining room provides an amazing view of the Central Valley. It... More

The hotel was nice reviews is probably why I choose to book it! But if you have the bad luck of having a flight delayed like we did, and you arrive after 21.30h, forget it, they will not open the doors to you. I call the hotel, explain the bad day we had, and we will arrive later that day,... More

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you did not make it to Poas Lodge. As for the telephone conversation our advise was to stay at a hotel close the the airport since you would not arrive until after midnight. You were told you would not be charged as long as you talked to expedia. We did wait until... More

A small family run hotel. The rooms were wonderful with a beautiful view overlooking the city. It was very quiet and secure. a small dinner menu that is prepared fresh daily. And a wonderful hot breakfast. It was damp and chilly and they lit the fire in the restaurant- common room very cozy. it is very close to the Poas... More

We loved staying here.Very peaceful environment. The owners, two brothers, were both helpful and made our stay comfortable. The views are spectacular. Very close to La Paz Waterfall gardens, which I totally reccommend visiting while staying in the area. Loved the fireplace after a chilly day hiking. Food they served for dinner was great. Bed comfy with just enough pillows (love... More
