If you're looking for a scenic, friendly, high-altitude destination in Costa Rica, it's hard to imagine a better place than Poas Lodge and Restaurant. This was our first of three stops in CR. We followed the lodge's recommendation regarding transportation from the airport, and it was perfect - a modern van that comfortably seated our group of seven, with a... More

We arrived here from Europe, tired and jetlagged and the restaurant had already closed. But they made some bean soup for us, which was very good. And such a relief not to have to drive to get dinner somewhere else! This is a homely and friendly place and the owners will help you with lots of things. The view is... More

The owners Stephan and Jimmy, brothers from Texas in the USA, have an inviting bed and breakfast with an amazing view of the Central Valley. After setting us up in our very comfortable room, they invited us to the dining area to watch the lights come on in the Central Valley. We enjoyed a glass of wine while gazing at... More

Planned on one night at the Lodge while viewing the volcano. Got rained out from our hike and it was a blessing in disguise. Relaxed at the hotel the whole time. Watched the clouds roll over the most spectacular views. Had dinner and breakfast- both very yummy. And the hosts, Jimmie and Stephan, were great. These Texas boys made us... More

This is a wonderful place to visit. Peaceful and quiet. Jimmie and Stephan are wonderful hosts. Food is all fresh, local and prepared by Stephan. Did I say the food was good? It was excellent! The atmosphere invites you to sit by the fireplace in the lounge and relax with a glass of wine or pilsen before dinner. The dinning... More

Very comfortable and clean rooms. Gorgeous view of the valley below that you can enjoy - especially at night - in front of a roaring fire in the fireplace. The food is perfection and the hosts are warm, inviting and a great source of tourist info.

We stayed here for only one night after our flight was delayed by 24 hours. Stephan was amazing & so supportive in accommodating us on our late night arrival. This place has stunning views & the atmosphere is so relaxed & friendly. We were gutted not to be able to stay longer. Breakfast was high quality & substantial - all... More

Friendly hosts, comfortable rooms, excellent food, magnificent surroundings, what else one wants? The temperature outside was a bit chilly but once inside...it was forgotten. Thank you Jim and Stephan.

This was strange for sure we are use to larger brand Name hotels but this was so close to the park it made sense. The host are very freindly and yes it feels like their home. They showed us the room and although older it was clean and athough small held all three of us comfortably. Everything worked so no... More
