We had a great time at the Tree Houses Hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the tree houses are very nice. The managers are very nice and helpful. My 16 year old daughter was very excited to stay here. It is about a 30 minute drive into La Fortuna, but worth it.

This was a wonderful place! I'd call it a jungle-bed-n-breakfast, of sorts. It was our first stop on a nine day adventure driving around Costa Rica. The tree houses themselves are wonderful, the grounds are natural, lush, and beautiful and Lucy, Mark, and the Tree Houses staff are great hosts! Their approach is laid back, yet accommodating. Breakfast was some... More

We were looking forward to sleeping in a tree house and seeing monkeys on our trip to Costa Rica. We were so excited when the howler monkeys greeted us upon arrival. One night there was a thunderstorm. How fun to lie in bed and listen to the rain and thunder. Mornings start early here at 6am with fresh Costa Rican... More

This place was exactly what I had expected and hoped for. For us spoiled Americans, this was roughing it in some ways. But we kayak and camp a lot, so this was great to us. We stayed here for 5 nights and I highly recommend it. We came to CR to get away from reality for 10 days, so I... More

We stayed for six nights in Yiguirro house. It is well away from the road, so we had no traffic noise. It was clean, well-stocked, and very comfortable. Mark asked us every day if there was anything we needed. We were given plenty of information about places to eat, gas stations, shops, etc. And Mark is really good at drawing... More

This is not a 5-star resort. And you're not paying the rates of a 5-star resort. The draw is the uniqueness of the tree houses. It's a great place to stay but be aware of what you're getting. Mark was incredibly helpful in planning tours and transfers prior to our arrival and all of the tour operators he used were... More

The Tree House Hotel was great!! Mark, Lucy and the whole staff were great! Our tree house was small but definitely enough room for us, it was cozy, clean and comfortable. I absolutely loved sitting on the porch having my morning coffe...which was delivered to our tree house each morning. The grounds were gorgeous and well kept. we visited the... More

I am very late to review this hotel as I thought it was published earlier, but, better late than never. We stayed in Tree Houses as a family of four, two summers ago. Could not have asked for a better trip. The room was large enough and the kids stayed in the loft area above us. Air conditioner worked great... More

My family (2 kids 13 and 15 and my husband) stayed here last week and it was fantastic!! The tree houses are wonderful, very clean and the setting is fantastic. We had a blast sitting our our porch watching the birds, bats and monkeys. We stayed in the Sloth unit which my sons loved because they climbed a steep ladder... More

For the young and young at heart...we had a delightful stay at the Tree House Hotel! We kept the tree house a surprise for our 10 year old son who couldn't believe his eyes when we drove up to the Sloth House and told him this was our "hotel room". The house was just the right size with a comfy... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tree Houses Hotel is a bed and breakfast hotel conveniently located off the main road that runs through La Fortuna and around the Arenal Volcano. We are a short 25 minute drive to the high tourist area. People seek us out with that in mind, to be away from it all but close enough to enjoy all the fun adventure the La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano area has to offer. We have just 5 tree houses (each very private) on 8 acres and we are surrounded by a 70 acre wildlife refuge with a waterfall, pools to swim and a beautiful river. Each tree house features A/C, warm water showers, refrigerators and safes. There are few hotels like this in the world and none other in Costa Rica. There is something so very exciting about spending the night high in the forest canopy, wildlife all around you, safe and cozy in a tree house hotel in Costa Rica. ... more   less
