Arenal is very overrated - a tourist trap. Backpackers was a little overpriced and didn't offer the same amenities as the other backpacker hostels that I had stayed at. My friend and I stayed in a luxury tent which was fine and kept the bugs out.

We stayed in a private double room, and other than the excellent zipline tour then day pass to Los Lagos Resort up the road, were not really sad to leave the resort or Arenal in general. If you want mediocre 'service', poor showers, dusk till dawn terrible (as in, really really bad) blaring music, no way of cooking for yourself... More

Stayed in an 8 person female dorm with ensuite. One of the nicest hostels I've stayed at. The grounds/ facilities are amazing and clean. Only wish they had a kitchen or at least a fridge to store some snacks. It was a nuisance to keep bugging the staff at the bar. The staff are nice but not very interactive. Booking... More

We stayed in a tent room for two nights here and it was more comfortable than I thought it would be. Had a good sleep and the hostel had a really good atmosphere. the staff were really helpful and always seemed to be smiling. Not too far from the local bus station which was rather helpful to us as we... More

Best beds I've ever experienced in a hostel. The grounds are beautiful and the bar area has a nice lounge area and pool too. Staff are friendly and our dorm room had it's own bathroom. The tents looked like they would be awesome to sleep in too. This place lacks a kitchen was the restaurant was reasonable and the food was... More

I disagree with all travelers that had said the staff is not helpful. Since the check in we felt the good vibe from the reception guy Freddie, he Rocks !. He helped us with general info, and booked some tours for us. He was always more than willing to help people. Even though the tours are little pricy in the... More

We stayed here in a tent room. The hostel is nice with a very good set up. The pool, hammocks, restaurant and bar are all centrally located and the area becomes a great place to relax between tours and meals and meet other travellers. A great atmosphere with good music playing throughout the day. The shared showers and washrooms are... More

The place was clean and well maintained, especially liked the hammocks and the lounge. The town is a short walk away and is easy to get to. The rooms are basic and have lockers. The staff aren't the most helpful and don't seem interested helping the guests. There are plenty of cheaper places in town to organise trips in to... More

We went on the off season, so not too many people, so noise was just like any hostel, but they turned the music off at 11(12 at the latest) every night. The location was good, walking distance to everything. Our tent was a double bed, in the middle of all the other tents and it was fine except for the... More

We stayed in a tent, this was wonderful for a private couples getaway. Bathrooms and showers were extremely clean and good with hot water. Had everything we needed readily available. The front desk staff was very helpful and had plenty of insite into what to do in the local area on either a tour or going yourself and how to... More
