Its a huge property that is really well kept. Its very resorty and if thats your thing then its a good find. Good breakfast and sandwiches at their pool side cafe. Most rooms have Volcano views, although these are not lava views. We had the hotel organize activities for us - same price, less hassle and worked out well.

Beautiful grounds. Two pools and two decent restaurants. Great views of the volcano. Friendly staff. Average rooms but you don't go to Costa Rica to stay in your room. Only problem is it's about 5 miles from town. About $16 round trip by cab everytime you want to go to dinner out or shop. If you have a car I... More

It would take a lot of this to kill you! As I hit the pool and ordered a cerveza from the swim up bar I looked back to a fantastic view of the Volcano. Very nice! This is where I would return to and would send friends and family heading to Arenal area (La Fortuna). We stayed in 4 locations... More

As advertised on this site! Beautifull rooms and gardens right out the back door of the room. My wife was sick and it rained the 3 days we were there but we still would recommend to anyone as I can only imagine how stunning the area is when you can see all of it!!

The room was clean and comfortable and the decor fits with the tropical theme of the resort. The room was a good size with an air conditioner built into the wall above one of the beds. Be careful in setting it too low or you might be awakened by ice chipping flying from the unit. The patio outside my room... More

Based on everyone's reviews, we decided to pick this location for the first leg of our trip and we were not disappointed. When we arrived, we were given a tour of the property and brought to the farthest area of the resort (room 317). At first, we didn't like the location, but we soon realized, that's the area closest to... More

Hotel room and grounds were very nice. beds were super comfy with more than one pillow and the room itself was very spacious. Staff was incredibly helpful. I left something in my hotel room and staff overnighted it to my hotel in san jose at no cost to myself. tours pick up from this spot and there is even a... More

We stayed here for three nights. Rooms were simple, but comfortable and clean. Each room had a nice patio out back where you can sit and relax. Our room had trees out back with lots of howler monkeys. Grounds were beautiful with lots of tropical flowers and plants. Showers were hot with great water pressure. Buffet breakfast was wonderful and... More

Fortuna has a great number of nice resorts, and my husband and I were very happy with our choice -- Volcano Lodge. The price was reasonable and our room, although not fancy, was very clean and neat. The bed was comfy, and we loved our patio facing the volcano and gardens (be sure to walk the garden path!). The grounds,... More

We stayed at the Volcano Lodge in March , for two nights. The landscaping is beautiful and the rooms were spacious and clean. There is a back patio area for you to sit outside of your room and ours had an amazing view of the volcano. The weather was perfect and we could see the smoke coming out the top... More
