Had a nice stay at this old hotel but was saddened by the loss of one of the macaws and missed seeing the coatis. Saw other wildlife and a few friendly faces. The evening meals are good but the breakfast is off a bit. The new breakfast cook tends to rush his eggs. LOL. I think that the pool and... More

En route to Arenal Lodge, we spent the day at Baldi Hot Springs. Chatting with a guest there I mentioned that I will be staying at "Arenal Lodge". She said: "Oh! That's where I'm staying too! You go to the guard house and turn left..." (and other directions on how to get there). We followed her directions which led us... More

Arenal Lodge offers excellent views of Arenal Volcano from the rooms (at least the junior suites, where we stayed) and from the restaurant. Relative to other hotels in the area this is a bit "far" from La Fortuna, but just a short drive to Tabacon Hot Springs and the Arenal Volcano National Park, the primary reasons we visited the area.

We just returned from a trip to Costa Rica. We stayed in Arenal Lodge during the first half of the holiday. I must admit, I almost cancelled the reservation after reading some of the reviews, and on realising the distance it was from La Fortuna. I'm glad to say we were really glad we didn't cancel the booking. During our... More

We stayed just one night as we were heading north for a wedding. This place is wonderful. It is a bit rustic but nothing that would persuade you to stay elsewhere. If you want the chance to relax, maybe read a book or just watch the world go by, this is it. Very reasonably priced, staff is very helpful and... More

The drive up to Arenal Lodge is a 2 km uphill drive with constant sharp turns. This made me somewhat concerned as it seemed really far from anything...and it was. The lodge itself has some good facilities and the grounds are lovely. My room had a great view of the volcano, as did many others, and this is really what... More

My husband, daughter and I stayed here between June 5-8, 2011, and everything about this lodge and its grounds is utterly magical. We knew we wanted to visit the Arenal region and I chose this lodge based on the price and some reviews I'd read. Wow, were we ever shocked when we arrived here from San Jose. First, it's a... More

Our stay at this property can only be described as AWESOME! There are many signs announcing that you're approaching the lodge and the road to the reception desk is steep but beautiful . We were greeted by courteous and helpful staff . Our Chalet was open and comfortable and my husband immediately sunk into the recliner in front of the... More

The scenery here was amazing. Fantastic view of the volcano and the lake. Great place to get away. We were fascinated by the trail of leaf-cutter ants that we discovered during the night as we were walking to the jacuzzi.

Lynn and I stayed here on vacation for a couple days. We wanted to get a glimpse of the famous active Arenal volcano. No luck. All we saw was rain and clouds, however the stay at the lodge was great! The staff was excellent and the food great. We enjoyed our time here very much and recommend it for a... More
