Website invites you to step into an outdoor paradise of free flying tropical butterflies -- visited the garden--totally overgrown with plants and not a butterfly anywhere near--better description is devastation! Website indicates Rainforest Trails with complimentary escorted nature hike--escort even not offered--paver trail uneven and difficult to manoeuvre; entry indicated "watch for snakes!" not encouraging without someone who is familiar.... This apparently used to be 'thee spot' back in the day and won awards as being a fantastic lodge some 10 years ago. However, it certainly needs to be invested in. The drive to La Fortuna to find this lodge was a misery through all the darkness, rain downpour, potholes, winding roads, and unpaved roads. I nearly thought we would've... More

I stayed here 4 days and loved every single day. The staff was super friendly and detailed, even sang me happy birthday because they noticed I would be there for that day during my stay. I booked the standard room but got upgraded at no extra cost to a Junior Suite and from the moment I walked into the room... More

First off.. we absolutely loved the receptionist staff. They were all extremely friendly, helpful, and talkative. We instantly were upgraded to the garden view rooms when we booked the economy room. Out room was great. The beds are a little musky, but that's only because there isn't any A/C and it's hot in the day. However you don't need A/C... More

The Hotel was a great place for our first night in the Arenal region. Our family of 5 were comfortable in the ground floor of a Chalet. Sofa bed was comfortable for our daughter. The highlight for property is the view of the Arenal Volcano. The staff were great and Eduardo the Manager was excellent. He let us store all... More

Loved this place, the views were amazing of the volcano, nothing nicer than lying in your bed, with a fresh coffee at 5.30am watching the sunrise over the volcano. We stayed in a junior volcano view suite. Room nice and clean, you can hear the neighbours tho. Nice hotel, pool and Jacuzzi lovely and we saw humming birds and howler... More

The drive up to the lodge itself can be a little frightening; but it is worth the effort. From the dining area you overlook the valley into Fortuna and lake Arenal and straight at the Volcano. Gorgeous. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Breakfast buffet was had options for all diet needs:fruit, eggs, cereal, pancakes meat and of course,... More

It is remote--a long way from La Fortuna. Nice in some ways, because, you're up in the mountains & it's beautiful- but a little isolating if you want some local flavor. The front desk staff we very busy, but could not have been nicer or more accommadating. Be prepared. This is the rainforest, so it rains ALOT. We loved our... More

4 of us traveled with Costa Rica Expeditions private guides. I was delighted to have them pick this location. We were able to bird watch on the property before buffet breakfast. Custom omelet station and wonderful selection of food. It was covered dining area w/open air overlooking the main pond providing bird watching. Numerous villas, with private patios with sitting, huge... More

While I cannot give it a 5 star rating, I will say that we really enjoyed our stay at Arenal Lodge. We stayed in room 3, which is one of four "family suites", and it was very generous spacing for two adults and two late-teens. I had read a recent review about not having hot water, very surprising to me... More

Thanks for your comment. In fact the water problem was not in the whole place. Was a section and it was caused by a tree that fell down. Matters we cannot prevent. What we can do is work in issues like the TV and that is what we are doing now. We are really happy because you had a good... More
