Views from the balcony were great as they overlook the volcano. The staff were polite however a couple of folks at the front desk were so so and did not really care. Rooms were clean and spacious but dated. Wifi only in the lobby and that too was not working for an entire day. Do not stay in the room... More

This was a decent place to stay. It was very secluded, with a LONG drive up to the hotel and rooms from the main road. Getting in was a bit difficult, as the guard didn't have our name listed and there was a language barrier. That got resolved after a bit. We paid for an upgrade from a basic room... More

We stayed recently in family suite with our grown daughters and hoped for a two bedroom suite, but you had to walk through bedroom to bathroom and next bedroom, tried to talk to front desk staff to change rooms or even upgrade, but he was not very helpful and did not speak english very well. The hotel and grounds were... More

We only stayed two nights at this hotel which was probably long enough, I'm not sure I'd want to spend a week there. The basic rooms are definitely spacious and can accommodate a family nicely but they could use some updating and could be cleaner. The included breakfast was good and watching the beautiful birds in the mornings made the... More

This hotel might have been great once but its not now. Its has potential but the owner seems to be running it into the ground. It seems to have half the staff it once had. If we hadn't found another local hotel called The Springs (30 min away) that did day passes, our 3 nights here in the Arenal area... More

We had a great visit here in Arenal Lodge. Friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant provided a great complimentary breakfast. The restaurant wasn't exceptional, but it was there, convenient and was good enough. This is a beautiful location. Lots of hiking from the resort near by. The jacuzzi and pool area was excellent too. Room was clean and comfortable.

From what we'd seen on the website, the lodge would be an absolute delight and we were so excited to get here. We'd come from sunny Manuel antonio to arenal and the weather was very different, cold and rainy. We arrived in the dark and the reception staff couldn't even manage a welcome smile. We had booked a junior suite... More

If a true getaway is what you are looking for, this is the perfect stay. The grounds are rather large with every thing pretty spread out. This resort is truly on the side of a mountain with a beautiful view of the volcano (unfortunately we arrived right at the end of the rainy season so we weren't able to see... More

The hotel is beautiful. Our room was very nice with great views. However the hotel was far away from La Fortuna was about 40 minutes driving. Additionally, the drive towards the hotel was very challenging. Steep climbs and narrow turns. You have to drive about 10 min until you get there, and in the dark it is not a nice... More

Just got back from Costa Rica yesterday. I traveled with my husband and two children (ages 11 and 9), my parents (early 70s) and sister. We arrived at Arenal Lodge at nearly 10pm on 12/26/14, having had a full day at Doka coffee plantation, Poas Volcano and La Paz waterfalls. Alas the restaurant had closed for the evening so we...
