went to CR the first week of august and our first stop was in arenal , drove from SJO. the drive was gorgeous, and to top it all, you really need a 4*4 to drive up to the lodge which is atleast a 1 km drive from the main entrance, but once you get there it is breathtaking. the views... More

As long as we can do a room upgrade we do it , because for us the client is first, and his satisfaction is our reason to be. Really happy you enjoyed the stay and hoping to have you back. Best regard. More

Staff were so friendly. Jessie was awsome with helping us schedule excursions. We went on an 1.5 hour horseback riding tour for $25.00 per person. Miguel the guide was extremely knowledgeable about the property and wild life. The people and property are Pura Vida!!!

The friendliest and most accommodating staff I have ever met in my travels. The lodge is only 30 min from the town of La Fortuna. It offers great value for the money. A great restaurant and amenities on the grounds. Pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, horse back riding and walking tour with guide. Check out the excursions offered at the lobby. Better... More

My son (17) and I stayed at Arenal Lodge for 2 nights. We arrived straight from San Jose and it was my first driving experience in CR. The hill to get to the hotel is VERY demanding, so much so that I got stuck on it with my little 4x4! I called reception and asked for help as it was... More

Has an amazing view but that is about it. The hotel is a little old and run down. The rooms are okay but everything seems to be damp. The hotels bathrooms are old and not the best. The hotel is very far away from town and they do not offer a free or low cost shuttle to town. Therefore you... More

We apologize you don't get what you were expecting. but it will be a little difficult to have a mountain lodge in the town. Instead of that we offer a quiet place with hiking trails and horseback riding, in to a 600 hectares farm and forest. Best regard. More

The Arenal Lodge is perched high up on the ridge just north of Volcan Arenal. The drive up from the highway is nearly 2 miles, and there is a sign when you arrive at the hotel that says "You Made It". The junior suites look directly at the volcano with a nice deck to sit on. Those rooms are newly... More

Clean but dark room (we had a lower floor Junior suite). Coffee maker and safe in the room. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Staff helpful and pleasant but no concierge so tour questions were handled by the Jacamar Tour company in the lobby and we had a serious issue with them (among other things they charged us $45 for a $25... My children (19 and 16) and I were there in June 2015 (rainy season). We arrived in the afternoon and the lodge had no power (no fault of their's). We were given a flash light and candles (was afraid to burn the place down!). Luckily we arrived while it was still light out so we could see the layout of... More

High up, at the end of a steep and winding brick road, the Arenal Lodge is truly authentic Costa Rica. Rooms are not "fancy," but are clean and comfortable with coffee maker, blow dryer, tv. Wifi is not available in-room but IS available in the lobby. Highlight of our stay was a free walk through the grounds and rain forest... More

We take your comment but not share it. We have our own highlights. About the place you mention first I just don't visit them so i can not give you my opinion. And the road I have been traveling back and for nine years and there were no accidents, so it make me wonder, that is more dangerous to be... More
