This hotel is very far from the Liberia Airport. We drove to the hotel from the airport and it took us about 2.5 hours. By the time, we reached the hotel, it got dark and we saw a sign saying "Hotel Arenal Lodge". We went onto that road and kept going on and on. It was quite a surprise for... More

Stayed here for three days....rain and clouds the whole time. Couldn't get the heat or A/C to work for room so was damp and clammy. No fridge for drinks and no hot water the first day. The lodge itself is beautiful and the views (when you can see them) must be spectacular. The grounds are beautiful and maintained but they... More

We stayed 2 nights at this lodge. The junior suite room was breathtaking. We had a "view" towards the vulcano but due to bad weather we could only see as far as the pool. It was cold and rainy all the time but once we descended from the lodge we had dry weather. There was nothing wrong with the lodge,... More

Our family of 4 had a great time at this lodge. Nothing fancy in the rooms, but the breakfast buffet is very good (and included--a big plus if you have hungry kids). We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was OK. Perfect location for exploring--we did La Fortuna, Rio Fortuna swimming hole, Arenal Hanging Bridges, Arenal National Park, and... More

My family stayed at Arenal Lodge and the mattresses seemed new, but the bed frames were old, tattered, stained and full of dust mites. Plus, service was non-existent and no one really cared about our requests at all.

Property location has a great view. Received an upgrade on checkin to the honeymoon suite. Not impressive at all. Beds very uncomfortable, room drafty (windows did not all close). Other furniture in room in need of replacement. Much deferred maintenance on rooms. Lodge o.k., small gym, restaurant expensive for the mediocre quality it was, except for the breakfast which was... Great place to stay. Once the clouds cleared we had some amazing views of the volcano. It's worth having a junior suite for the views. Only downside was the shower wasn't great and a fridge would be nice to keep water cool. We would have used mini bar had there been one, extra revenue for the lodge. The morning walk... More

High end resort. Dining room lovely. Traditional menu. Moderate to expensive. Lovely views. Nice place to stop, rest, dine. Grounds very extensive and lovely. Did not stay overnight. Lodge showing a bit of age.

If you want to get away from it all this is the place to go!! We had an unbelievable view of the gardens and volcano from our room. Can you say Jurassic Park? We expected a brontosaurus to appear at any time. Staff was extremely nice and helpful, food was good and price was reasonable. Well maintained grounds. The only... More

One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The entrance from the main gate to the reception is a winding, curvy road - a drive that takes about 10 minutes more because of the slow speed you have to drive at. The whole place has beautiful gardens attracting lot of birds and butterflies. The reception has very friendly... More
