I have to say that I was not entirely prepared for how run down this place was. By reading the reviews I knew that it was in need of "updating" but I was shocked at how badly the our room was. We rented the 'master suit', which I thought would be an improvement from other typical rooms. NOT SO. When... More

This hotel has one of the best views in Arenal. The hotel is at the top of a big hill with unreal views of the volcano. The rooms are similar to a lodge, a little rugged, but clean. We stayed in the junior suite which has a great patio and view. I would say one of the best aspects of... More

We drove to this lodge from San Jose in the fog. We we were unaware of the fantastic view that would greet us the next morning at sunrise when we opened the curtains of our chalet! Fabulous! The room was nice and clean. The view great. It was a bit of an uphill walk to get to the chalet from... More

After reading lots of mixed reviews of the Arenal Lodge, we recently spent four nights there. The location is convenient, close to many of the activities in the Arenal area and you don't have to spend a lot of time hanging out in La Fortuna. We had a wonderful experience! If you want the Hilton or the Marriott, you should... More

We had the misfortune to stay two days during a torrential downpour, so we never saw the volcano and weren't able to enjoy a lot of outdoor activities. We saw the resort at its worst. In good weather, it's probably much more lovely, but the pity is that some of the least enjoyable things we experienced are fixable, if they'd... More

Views from the balcony were great as they overlook the volcano. The staff were polite however a couple of folks at the front desk were so so and did not really care. Rooms were clean and spacious but dated. Wifi only in the lobby and that too was not working for an entire day. Do not stay in the room... More

This was a decent place to stay. It was very secluded, with a LONG drive up to the hotel and rooms from the main road. Getting in was a bit difficult, as the guard didn't have our name listed and there was a language barrier. That got resolved after a bit. We paid for an upgrade from a basic room... More

We stayed recently in family suite with our grown daughters and hoped for a two bedroom suite, but you had to walk through bedroom to bathroom and next bedroom, tried to talk to front desk staff to change rooms or even upgrade, but he was not very helpful and did not speak english very well. The hotel and grounds were... More

We only stayed two nights at this hotel which was probably long enough, I'm not sure I'd want to spend a week there. The basic rooms are definitely spacious and can accommodate a family nicely but they could use some updating and could be cleaner. The included breakfast was good and watching the beautiful birds in the mornings made the... More

This hotel might have been great once but its not now. Its has potential but the owner seems to be running it into the ground. It seems to have half the staff it once had. If we hadn't found another local hotel called The Springs (30 min away) that did day passes, our 3 nights here in the Arenal area... More
