Had an amazing time visiting La Fortuna and we were really pleased with the accommodations at Arenal Hostel Resort. Overall the dorm room was fine, pretty average for backpacker expectations. The garden area and kitchen space made up for any negatives in the sleeping department. There are a bunch of hammocks and a couple tables with palapa-style coverings. Plus a... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights last week in a private room. We had an upstairs room furthest away from the bar which was great because it was quiet. The room was large and spacious and very clean. The first shower I took the water was FREEZING, but after that it was warm-ish. Wifi was fast an... More

This was Lonely Planets top choice (Centralamerica on a shoestring) but didn´t really live up to that. The dorms are very cramped, there is no space to hang/dry your clothes - in an enviroment which is constantly humid. There are only 4 sockets- in a room for 10 people and there are in the bathrooms only! Imagine cameras and phones,... More

Good: staff...especially host Joe who showed us around and greeted us by name every time he saw us. A nice touch. Security...tops. Pool, garden grounds, hammocks and rocking chairs are a nice touch and great for relaxing. Bad: Bar plays loud music which means patrons have to talk OVER the noise...therefore it is hard to relax in nice common areas...even... More

Dont let the "resort" fool you. This is your basic run of the mill hostel. Now, I can't speak to the private rooms because I stayed in a dorm, but this hostel boasts many qualities that it does not hold up to. First off, I booked a SIX bed female dorm room. Ended up in a 10 bed female room... More

Had no real problems with this place. It was clean and I felt safe along with all of my belongings. Cafe made yummy food and drinks and was reasonably priced. Only personal issue I had was the bed making crunching noises every time I moved. Ha! But for the price and it being a hostel, I would recommend it!

There are so many good things to share about my stay here I don't know where to start! The hostel is centrally located downtown. It is a two minute walk from the bus station. Upon entering I was greeted by a friendly engaging staff and a well manicured courtyard. The courtyard has around a dozen hammocks, some tables on green... More

My sister and I visited the Arenal Hostel Resort in La Fortuna for 3 nights at the end of February 2015. It was right downtown beside a park with a fountain and an incredible view of the volcano! The staff were super friendly upon our arrival (giving us a free drink ticket!) and the dorm rooms are clean with big... More

I stayed in the 10 bed girls dorm for $16 a night. It was good but no lockers or windows and only had electrical outlets in the bathroom. Nice pool and hammocks and a small kitchen. Good atmosphere and the staff were so nice. I would recomend staying here.

Lots of adventurous stuff to do in La Fortuna, and this hostel was great to come back to. The small pool is fun and refreshing. The hammocks are awesome too. Tons of great cafes, stores and restaurants nearby too. Very much preferable to the gated resort hotels closer to the Arenal Volcano.
