We spent two nights here -- had a private room and bathroom on the second floor of one of the units. The room was affordable and located right in the center of La Fortuna, which was roughly a 25-min drive (we had a rental car) to the base of the Arenal Volcano, where we did most of our hiking. Biggest... More

The bedrooms were great. She showers were good and the bar with the pool was just killer! You can't go wrong with this place in La Fortuna. Tip: even though the staff are super helpful, just don't fall for the tours they try to constantly sell you!

This place is right in the centre of town and so ideally located for bars and restaurants etc. Staff very friendly and rooms clean, however, the bar area, which our room was right next to, played power ballads from 8am -10pm. If power ballads are your thing, then book without delay; if not, think twice.

The affiliated properties “Backpackers Hostel” and “Arenal Hostel” in La Fortuna provided a good, reasonable-cost base of operations for our family of three during our four-night stay in the area. We booked a triple room at Backpackers for our first two nights. Aldo, the proprietor, speaks flawless English (though we can easily get by in Spanish) and was helpful, friendly... More

Stayed 4 nights in a private room. The room is average and has a huge shower. I was impressed with the cleaning staff paying attention to find details. There is a nice pool with a bar you can swim up to. The yard has a fountain, two gazebos and six hammocks. One of my favorite parts was laying out in... More

Good points: Nice pool area. Clean, airy rooms. Good shower. Wifi accessible in some locations. Secure parking area. Kitchen. Bad points: No breakfast included despite the rather hefty dorm room charge ($15 for a bed in a 6 dorm bed, whereas the hostel we moved onto in Arenal was $8 for a bed in a 4 dorm or $20 for... Traveled with a group of eight. (Six were children) Had a very good stay. Best location in town! Friendly and helpful staff. Also use of a kitchen was very beneficial. Pool was small but clean, common areas were very nice. Good security at night. Only thing that would have been nicer is if the shower had hot water. Also, our... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Luis and Pedro are my guys! When I arrived they helped me book my excursions and gave me advice on which where the best and value for money. They also gave me info about the local area in terms of food and nightlife etc. The rooms were very clean and there was hot water which... More

It really is more like a hotel, but we did enjoy the pool and the beer pong tournament. The rooms were clean, but the A/C was a bit intense at night in the dorms (get a bottom bunk and block it with your towel if you can). The staff was not always helpful at the desk. It's a bit of... More
