I'll start with the positive. The property is beautiful. Beautiful wildlife, fauna, buildings and rooms. The pool is very relaxing. The staff is absolutely fantastic. Very attentive and very friendly. The on-site tours are great, especially the night tour with Ismael. The on site interns are great. Very knowledgeable and really care about what they are doing on the property.... More

"We are very sorry that this guest’s experience was not all they had hoped for. Part of the attraction of our eco-lodge is that it is approximately thirty-minutes from the noise and activity of the city. We often have guests who come, even for extended periods of time, and never venture off the property because they are happy to bask... More

To those who want to experience the true luxuries of Costa Rica- this is a well coveted and hidden gem. An experience that envelops you in nature, comfortable accommodation, organic food grown on-site and a tour through biodynamic gardens that blew my mind. Trails to hike as far as the eyes can see - all the amenities i needed for... More

I visited this lovely spot in September, 2012 and enjoyed every aspect of my trip. This farm is preserving sacred and native seeds and plants and unlike many lodges, Finca Luna Nueva has a true mission in the world. But it also offers a peaceful and restorative setting for those seeking the beauty of a rainforest. I enjoyed the simple... More

You won't want to go home. This is the land that James Cameron must have visited before conjuring his "Floating Mountains of Pandora." It is spectacular everywhere, birds, frogs, massive trees, primeval forests, sounds from the dawn of time. All the while you are tucked in to the most lovely and comfortable setting, adjacent to a biodynamic farm (that's organic... More

The Lodge was a fantastic place to stay. Our family of 5 was there for 5 nights. The food is really, really delicious, maintaining a local Costa Rican flavor, and cooked perfectly. Highly recommend the farm tour. The pool was really nice - water temp was perfect day and night for swimming. Staff were very, very helpful. The rooms were... More

We found this place by fluke and it was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The food was unbelievable and location was perfect, just don't get discouraged by the road on your way into the farm. Lots of wildlife and the sound of the rainforest at night was like something out of a movie! Great place to... More

We had a wonderful few days here - our favorite place of all 4 places we went in Costa Rica over the winter holidays! Our experience involved fabulous food, excellent farm tour included for free, gorgeous surroundings, and very comfortable room with a hammock on the balcony. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway.

We really enjoyed this organic farm tour. The lunch was delicious. If the tour was in the morning it would have been better since the heat almost melted us. We learned how the pigs were put into a field to clear it out (by eating everything in site) and how they left the fields for a few years to regenerate.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Finca Luna Nueva Lodge is a sustainable rainforest eco-lodge hotel, offering an intimate experience of primary rainforest together with a certified organic biodynamic farm. We began farming here in 1994, planting and harvesting organic ginger and turmeric, and promoting sustainable agriculture and conservation in the local community. In 2003 we decided to take our promotion of sustainable practices to the next level by building several beautiful eco-lodges using fallen timber from the farm. Since then we have added a 50 foot high observation tower, a solar heated Jacuzzi, an ozonated swimming pool, and a handicapped accessible rainforest trail. Now you can experience the Costa Rican rainforest, learn about our farm's sustainable practices and relax in our rustic yet luxurious accommodations. Walk through well-groomed rain forest trails on our guided farm tours and hikes, eat gourmet meals prepared from our fresh organic garden produce, and witness the majesty of the Arenal Volcano. For adventure activity enthusiasts, we are located only 35 minutes from La Fortuna, the adventure capital of Costa Rica, and home of world famous Arenal Volcano. La Fortuna is a must see destination for anyone seeking a thrill, and our experienced staff will be more than happy to schedule all of your activities and tours for you. ... more   less
